About Me

NAWFest or the North Alabama Whitewater Festival (www.NAWFest.com) is a festival for people by people that includes a huge festival, great camping, refreshments, games, videos, fun, silent auction, prize raffle and 10,000 in prizes and will be held on March 20-22nd in Cleveland, Al and Albertville, AL. The competition side of things will bring you the Fluid Kayaks Waterfall Huckfest event on 20 ft. Short Creek Falls, Stony Boater Heated Boatercross race off Short Creek Falls, Terrapin Beer Throw Down, Gaia Paddlesports Big Trick Competitions at King's Bend and the Red Bull Overall. We will have games such as cornhole, bucket wars, jousting and more to entertain you. We will have artisans that included: James Hislopes' incredible cartoons and caricaturists, pottery from Earth Bound, Elizabeth Jordan incredible face painting, massage therapists and chiropractors. Non-profit organizations such as Black Warrior Riverkeeper, Shane Hulsey Land Trust, American Whitewater, Friends of the Locust Fork, Alabama River Alliance and Alabama Enviromental Council will be there to spread the word about their mission. During the weekend the music will be awesome with music from: Vera, Sorry Lee Harvey, Branded X, Slave to the Day, Hill County Hemhaw, One Eyed Mary, The Great Big No, Incredible Sandwich and Pour Excuse. They are sure the rock the house. With competition we will have over 1,000 in cash purses for Pro competitors. This festival is the brain child of a group of Alabama Kayakers that decided that the Southeast should have a festival of it's own. The first year there were 250 people, the second year there were 1,100 and we are expecting more than 2,000 for the 5th annual taking place March 20-22, 2009. The home base being King's Bend in Cleveland, Blount County, Alabama located on the Locust Fork of the Warrior River will accommodate all campers and spectators.
