THE SUN LEE SUNBEAM

WE CRUSH THROUGH THE LIES THAT HIDE THE LIGHT...

About Me

THE SUN LEE SUNBEAM is that blinding ray of light that breaks in through your window at the end of a night that was holding your soul hostage. it's about simplifying the complexities of life. it's about throwing a wild party for the people in your head so they'll stop bothering you for two seconds already. it's about the metamorphoses we go through every breath, every hour, every day, every year. it's about taking a handful of troubled thoughts and throwing them into the air like hot pink confetti.
THE SUN LEE SUNBEAM is fronted by jessica sun lee, with mary flatley on bass, the hard hitting dynamic beats of eric olson, and special guest guitarist eric fahey. they want to splash a little light on your face, make you laugh, make you cry, tap your foot along and have a good time.

"Is there a hint of PJ Harvey, Joan Jett, or Hole in this band? Maybe. "We crush the lies that hide the light." Did I mention great lyrics? Yeah, I know, who gives a fuck about words. But you should listen to mine because this is the best CD I've heard this year, maybe in a few years."
- slimedog (the noise)
"There's a lot of talk about SLS, and with good reason. On the pop-rock tip, the trio is headed directly for the mainstream. All they need is a genius producer and a couple more high-profile gigs."
- brent t. ingram (the weekly dig)
"If the pill ever morphed into one giant Teen Movie, complete with a scene where the lead Young Knight in high school hipster armor had to approach his bitter, evil-eyed suitor-queen at the other end of the noisy bar, the Sun Lee Sunbeam would likely be the band playing in the background in a Letters to Cleo-like cameo. So that's where we're at this Friday, as the pill reaches deep down the lungs to inflate a million crystallized glitter-filled balloons scattered across our boot-stomped dance floor, when Jessica Sun Lee and her band of sultry buzz saw misfits return to the Great Scott stage once again for a summertime fling with the drop-top flipped down and inevitable love in the air. It's guitar-night turned to 11, and the Friday night dance party rolls on from there."

Influences: the dreams and realities of yesterday, today & tomorrow
Sounds Like: a passing glance at your reflection in a storefront window. pin balls of self-love and self-hatred colliding, rattling inside your skull. the anonymous poem you wrote to your first love before you slid it inside their locker or desk. the confessions of a half-baked narcissistic serial thriller. the regrets of an ex-lover. the sound of the pavement on a rainy night through a desolate highway. that time when your fingers ran away up the neck of an unpolished poet and he returned them in a shiny red box. the screams of the scorned. the sighs of the past. the jokes that you tell that you don't really mean but kinda do but aren't sure if you want anyone to know you believe them but it's too late because you said them and now everybody else feels awkward and uncomfortable. nice job.
