HIGHERSELPH

About Me

Talking about the quest for serenity by playing electric guitars : what may seem a contradiction is nevertheless the artistic basis of a band founded in the town of Rouen in the year 2005 and called Higherselph. Melting influences from Gojira, Opeth, many bands from the new french metal scene and 70's psychedelic musical ambiences, Higherselph keeps open to numerous music styles and philosophical trends, whose origins are set throughout the history of mankind. Their percussive and communicative music wants to express the unceasing movement of our souls that, beyond pain and tragedies, still go on their quest for happiness ; so that the rough strenght of metal music can be seen at the same time as a pleasant catharsis, helping us to face the difficulties of our existences, and as a efficient tool in a will to attain self-consciousness. Rythmical power and melodic warmth constantly face and come together in a music that, depending of the listener, sounds like an exhortation for spiritual communion or an invitation to a peaceful and friendly binge drinking.
