Christian MySpace GraphicsI am happily married to a wonderful guy that I met in a support group after being single five years after a horrible divorce. We had known each other about a year and a half before we started dating and married over a year ago. He's an excellent step-father to my 24 year old daughter. I just never thought I could love so completely at this time in my life. I'm a former punk rocker, if you can completely get the punk rocker out of your life, and a retired analytical chemist. I worked part-way through undergraduate school working as a bartender in an underground punk club. I've experimented with communal living, which was great for both my daughter and myself. She was always surrounded by artists, writers and musicians. So, I was not suprised when she became an artist and a musician, entering graduate school in January, wanting to become a clinical therapist. When I left college, I was studying flavonoids in grapefruit plants. I'm an avid reader, I just love to absorb good books. I'll go through reading phases where I choose a subject and read everything I can about the subject. I could live in the library and have to practice self-control in any and all bookstores. Right now I'm reading books on Christianity and the Kabbala. I was a practicing Buddhist for 22 years before converting to Christianity about a year and a half ago. This is all really new to me, but I am finding some balance in this universe for once. My experience was almost a mystical one, that's the best way to describe it. My daughter is still an atheist, but she is very supportive of my own spiritual journey, which is pretty cool and I support her on her own journey. She's just a great daughter. My husband is Christian also, but not judgemental or pushy or any of the 'Christian' stereotypes. He keeps me balanced through his constant support. He is a retired truck driver, so he has all of the common sense, while I have the "book" smarts. He is well read, and he completes a part of my puzzle that makes our life a whole. Since we come from completely different backgrounds, we have been able to introduce each other to different music and different books. We're even taking a new class together that begins October 6, 2007 called Bondage Breaking at our local church First Assembly Church of God. I consider myself to be a democratic socialist and I'm planning to become active in the presidential campaign. Our blindness at the plight of human rights and the lack of universal healthcare are two issues that I'm interested in, along with the huge gap between the rich and the poor. The disappearing working middle class, single Moms working two jobs just to put food on the table is something we all should be all be thinking about. I think alot of people put blinders on, not realizing that we have a new generation to protect, and right now, we're not doing such a good job. I believe that social change is possible and not just a dream to be idolized.I have two "humanized" cats, Amanda and Jerry,a brother and sister. If they knew I refered to them as 'cats' or 'pets', they would definitely be pissed. They are family members and rule this family with an iron fist! They have no idea that they are 'animals.' They are fed first, awake first and at bedtime, they are the first in bed. Amanda is the huntress and is very vocal, while Jerry is more mellow. Amanda can be held on her terms only, while Jerry can't get enough of being loved on and definitely loves my husband more than me. My husband calls Jerry the "King of Kitties", while Amanda is definitely the Queen. I think their goal in life is to be loved constantly and remind us who runs the ship around here. I have three hamsters, two Chinese dwarfs and one teddy bear hamster. Emily, Bella and Peaches are their names. The dwarfs are evil and will bite your head off if they could reach it, I've been bitten several times. Peaches is very kind and loving, always loving to be held and roam the house in her hamster ball. Amanda will spend hours just watching the dwarfs in their play home and we all know what she is thinking, a quick snack, though she never seems to pay any attention to Peaches.I still believe in mystical experiences (without drugs or alcohol), angel interventions and I'll always believe in fairies. I believe all human beings are connected in one way or another. I believe we only have one life, so we should make the best of it while we are here. I believe new people come in and out of our lives to teach us something good or bad, if we are open to that experience and it's never by accident.I'm looking forward to growing old with my family and the wisdom that comes with it.
