About Me

While playing together in the San Francisco Giants minor league system for too many years, Jake Wald and Derin McMains formed a country band. The two realized they had similar music interests when they first met in Hagerstown, Maryland. The double play combo continued to climb up the Giants farm system together until they found themselves feeling "stuck" in AA Norwich, Connecticut. This led to the creation of "Stache and Hawk". Wald grew an absurdly long handlebar mustache and McMains grew out a cabbage patch looking mohawk in hopes to turn the season around. When that didn't work, they began to write music. This lead to their first country baseball song "Hang With 'Em". What began as a joke, has now turned into 2 albums with national recognition. They've been featured on XM Satellite Radio, Minor League Baseball.Com, The Sporting News, and several other local newspapers. They have now been contacted by the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York to have their music preserved forever in baseball history. They continue to write about the up's and down's of minor league baseball with their own comical view. Take a listen to these boys as they tell you about bad clubbies, steroids, bus trips, ballpark annies, and many, many more things that make professional baseball what it is today.
