C-Rayz Walz - Sun Cycle, Urchin, & Def Jux :: New York City, NY (Hip-Hop)
http://www.myspace.com/crayzwalz
Legendary New York City battle-rap champion C-Rayz Walz considers energy an art unto itself. This Bronx-bred emcee is a lyrical maniac on stage, off the tip of his tongue, in the studio, on MTV and everywhere you turn these days. As one of the original members of the infamous rap crew Stronghold, C-Rayz Walz has been a fixture in the New York hip-hop scene for years. He hosts tons of hip-hop shows and events, has dropped over 34 singles that consistently make noise on the Billboard charts, has had a video in rotation on BET and started his own label, SunCycle Records.
On the battle circuit, C-Rayz is a most formidable opponent. The rapper is recognized as the only undefeated three-time EOW (End of the Weak) emcee challenge champion. He was banned from the Blaze Battle for beating competitors in past contests, and has claimed victory over the world's best freestylers, including Supernatural and Jin.
MTV producers felt the man's charisma and star power, choosing him over more than 100 qualified applicants to star in an episode of the hit reality show "Made," in which he teaches an upper-class white kid from Minneapolis to rap. The episode scored a 2.3 on the Nielsen Ratings and is the highest-rated reality TV episode in the network's history.
His newest album, “The Dropping,†is a limited edition collector’s classic and contains tracks featuring close friend Matisyahu, Rahzel, and The Blizzard, his MTV Made protégé. He released his previous project “Year of the Beast†after a year and a half of seclusion and burning all his old rhyme books. His third release on Definitive Jux, the album featured tracks with Jean Grae and M-1 of Dead Prez, and received much industry praise.
This prolific artist is more than a musician, poet, and stage-wrecker – he has written two books and one screenplay and dips his fingers into the visual arts as well. It's clear to see that after lighting up the underground for years with his luminous talent, it's truly the dawn of a new era.... The SunCycle Emcee is ready to rise and shine all over this third rock.
Over 500 live shows since 2003. Blazing Stages in Europe, South America, (Africa & Japan coming soon) shared the stage with the likes of Raekwon the Chef, Dead Prez, Mos Def, Aesop Rock, The Pharcyde, People Under the Stairs, Deep Rooted, Atmosphere, Mr Cheeks, De La Soul, Slick Rick, Doug E Fresh, Pete Rock, Insane Clown Posse, R.A. The Rugged Man, Killer Priest, GhostFace Killa, Inspecta Deck, GZA, SoundTribe Sector Nine, Sage Francis, Diggable Planets, X-Clan, GrandMaster Caz, Mellie Mel, Cold Crush, Busy Bee, DJ JS-1 & Rahzel, Kool Kieth, Self Scientific, DJ Muggz, Pigeon John, Reef The Lost Cauze, Large Professor and The New Positive Reggae Vibe Light of Matisyahu. STAY TUNED...........
Kayo - Indianapolis (Hip-Hop)
http://www.myspace.com/kayomc
By placing himself on a major-label remix, Indianapolis-based rapper Benjamin "Kayo" Priest helped generate airplay for a song that otherwise received none.
Noticing ["Long Way 2 Go's"] mediocre performance, Kayo contacted Bad Boy promotional executive Rich Dollaz and offered to add a verse of rhymes to "Long Way 2 Go's" middle section. Dollaz liked what he heard, and DJ Orion eventually added Kayo's version to his mix shows on WNOU-FM (93.1).
In addition to the recent Cassie remix, Kayo has also been featured on the new C-Rayz Walz album "The Dropping" on the opening track "The Rising".
