Hardly Laughing: Anatomy of a Hollywood Comic, is a look at six unknown Hollywood comedians and their quest to make a name for themselves while trying to deal with their own inner demons. Sean McCarthy carries a medical marijuana license and pokes fun at life in Hollywood and the government ridiculous war on drugs. Adam Barnhardt, a comedian from Texas who realized he was gay as a child and had to deal with a repressive Republican atmosphere of the Lone Star State. Rosie Tran, a 19 year old Vietnamese student, who has yet to tell her parents she wants to pursue a career in comedy. Justin Wade, a successful commercial actor who hasn't gotten over the fact that his father abandoned him and his mother. Dave Hanson, also a commercial actor, who uses comedy to improve his theatrical acting skills. And Clyde, struggling with a full time job, finds it difficult to manage a career and his passion for the stage.
