About Me

I am a writer (I just haven't earned anything from it yet). I mainly write scripts (TV and stage), although I currently have two novels on the go. It's often frustrating but, regardless, I can't think of anything else I'd rather do in my 'free' time...I do also have a grrreat 'day' job but I can't tell you what it is or I'd have to kill you.Like many of us, I regularly get my knickers in a twist about something or other. If you are interested in reading my rants you can do so here.Like not so many of us (perhaps) my other passion is my lovely daughter Scarlett. I won't bore you, though, with writing about how fabulous she is because you'll just get jealous.

My Interests

Walking. The beach. Fresh air. A nice glass of wine. Getting my hair done.

I'd like to meet:

Fellow writers, friends, anyone of interest. Stephen Fry, if he's passing.

Music:

Perennial favourites: The Beatles, the Kinks, the Stones, Buddy Holly, Oasis, INXS, Nirvana, the Manics. Probably lots more that I can't think of right now. Sometimes I even like to listen to 'new' stuff too - currently Amy Winehouse.

Movies:

Truly, Madly, Deeply. The Piano. I like golden oldies too such as Brief Encounter. But it has to be said that films are probably not my pastime of choice.

Television:

Life on Mars. Doctor Who. Sex and the City. British comedies: Bottom, The League of Gentlemen, Farty Towels. I'm currently loving The Chase. Anything which is well-written and which explores relationships. I'm also addicted to Holby City!

Books:

Anything by Marian Keyes or Wendy Holden. Anything by Germaine Greer. Anything by Jeanette Winterson.Irish writing, particularly Samuel Beckett, James Joyce, W B Yeats and Sean O'Casey.Specific texts I like include The Handmaid's Tale, Herland, The Yellow Wallpaper, To The Lighthouse, The Wasteland.Anything by Franz Kafka or Henrik Ibsen.

Lads’ mags

Is it just me or are so-called 'lads' mags' just a way of filling our supermarket shelves with porn? Nuts and Zoo are the latest addition to this trend and it was the most recent issue of Nuts which c...
