About Me

After literally years of promising friends and family an album of original music, it's finally here! Caffeine & Sanctuary is a collection of live tracks recorded in my living room on a Tascam 2488. As much as I love rockin' out to blues on my Strat, most folks know my music from worship or coffeehouse jams on my acoustic. Caffeine & Sanctuary represents original music from both of these settings. Half of the songs are from the biblical or liturgical texts. The other half are 100% original. Sometimes the text says it best; sometimes the heart does.
Caffeine & Sanctuary is scheduled to be released September 12, 2008 at Java Connexion in San Antonio, but you can order the CD or download individual tracks now (see below). Also, over the next year or so you'll be able to download a different song from last year's demo project each month for free! How cool is that?
In addition to being my debut album, Caffeine & Sanctuary is the first project for my budding indie label, Obed T. Records. If you're in the San Antonio area and you'd like to make an album, feel free to email me at [email protected].
Check out some of the folks below. They've got great music and are all either indie or unsigned!

Influences: Caffeine & Sanctuary is most heavily influenced by two albums:
Live at the Old Quarter by Townes Van Zandt
American Recordings by Johnny Cash
There's also a lot of Bob Dylan in what I do in singer/songwriter mode.

That said, the sound I'm always chasing is that of John Mayer Trio, Cream, Joe Bonamassa, and other stripped-down blues-influenced rock groups.

These days I've been listening to a lot of Bob Marley, AC/DC, Counting Crowes, and of course Led Zeppilin.

"My Angel and her Own"

It occurred to me recently that my blog-to-date may be one of the most boring things I've ever written!  So, I figured it was time to start talking about what's going on in the songs and in my mu...
