In the Spring of 2006, Brawler began as a way to vent some anger that comes with the daily lives of its members. Brawler is a rebirth of the combined ideas of former Hellemental members: Brian McGrath (vocals) and the Gregoire brothers (guitars). The three were looking to write some in your face metal that no one would be ready for. Mike contacted former El Chupacabra drummer and good friend Pete VonStettina (drums) to see if he would be interested. Pete accepted and couldn't wait to play a show with this new project. As for bass, Adam(guitar) contacted an old high school friend, Josh Breslin (bass), to add some funk and rythem to the band. Together, this band experimented with ideas for new songs and reincarnated a couple of old never recorded Hellemental songs. Most importantly, Brian McGrath has proven to be a more than worthy frontman for the band with his new "punch your teeth out" style of vocals. The combination of fast catchy beats with vengeful breakdowns works perfectly with McGrath's vocals. Unfortunately on February 6, 2007, Mike Gregoire passed away leaving many in disbelief and bewilderment. In order to keep his dreams alive, BrawleR continues to play as a four piece.
