At 16, he developed an interest in hip hop music, and began writing raps while attending school at William Howard Taft High School. He attended the University of Phoenix in the fall of 1987, and studied Architectural Drafting. Along with friend, Sir Jinx, Cube formed the group C.I.A., and they performed at parties hosted by then-DJ and World Class Wreckin Cru member, Dr. Dre.
