Why Jazz?
“Jazz found us,“ say the Twins, Kelly & Maze Tesfaye. Twins Lounge opened as an Ethiopian dining restaurant. The space was originally a jazz club. Several musicians came to Twins and suggested that we have live jazz bands perform. Local greats and Jazz legends such as the late Saxophonist Bobby Sanchez, the late Pianist James Williams, the late Pianist & Vocalist Shirley Horne, the late Saxophonist John Hicks, Pianist Randy Weston, Saxophonist David Fathead Newman, Saxophonist Sonny Fortune, Saxophonist Frank Morgan, Pianist Harold Mabern, Pianist Mulgrew Miller, Saxophonist Gary Bartz, Pianist Larry Willis, Saxophonist David Murray, Pianist Kenny Werner and others alike were soon booked to perform. “I fell in love with Jazz ever since,†says Kelly.
