Would Be Kings

About Me

AN INTRODUCTION
Would Be Kings are a solid 5 piece modern alt rock band, balancing all of their combined influences carefully to produce a very unique, yet easily accessible brand of modern pop rock music.
The music comes first with WBK, everything else is secondary. No gimmicks, no fads, no over styled bad haircuts, this is a band built to last, designed to be filling arenas for years to come, not just one good run at the festival circuits only to then disappear off the map!!
BIO
The band was formed in early January 2007 by two former members of the now defunkt Glasgow "Space Rock" band StandbY ( primary songwriter and lead guitarist Bobby Currie and drummer Will Welch) An advert was placed to find a front man to lead the way, Matt answered the call.
Matt Littlefair has everything you want in a front man, great presence and charisma, a powerful singing voice, and a strong image matched with enough self confidence to fill a small warehouse. Matt has penned a fair few pages of lyrics since joining the band, and his writing partnership with Bobby has produced some of the bands finest work to date.
The rest of the band consists of:
• Bobby Currie: Main songwriter, Guitars and backing vocals. Bobbys musical taste is rooted in Seattle but also in modern, forward thinking FX laden rock music
• Sean Currie- Guitars. The more edgy and avant garde the better!!
• Will Welch: Drums. Will likes his old school rock, The Who, Led Zep etc
• Anthony Drummond - Bass. Anything with groove floats the big mans boat!!
THE MUSIC
WBK have three recorded offerings to date "Where Do I Start?", "Our World to See" and a live studio session 3 track EP all of which demonstrate the ability of the band to craft great pop rock songs, and deliver them with heaps of energy and confidence.
THE SHOWS
Would Be kings pride themselves on being a great live band, you haven’t truly experienced the band until you have seen and heard them play live. The shows are packed full of energy, loads of volume, WBK are a truly huge sounding band.
The band chalked up a fair few gigs in their first year, playing to packed out venues in Glasgow such as The Classic Grand, The Barras 2, Capitol, Nice N Sleazy, The Ferry to name but a few.
2009 sees the band starting to look seriously at their direction and are currently weighing up a couple of management options, the band will be missing from the live scene during the summer with Matt away in the states, but rest assured once he returns the band will be hitting the scene hard again!! So watch out for some possible intimate acoustic gigs and hopefully some radio promo over the next couple of months!!
