North Dakota based Metal band, SHISS, with front man Joe Tibor, vocals; Sam Schaaf, drums; Jacob Krein, guitars; Torey Kaminsky, guitars; and bassist Mack Elmer have become the band they have always wanted to be, different.
SHISS formed in April of 2005 with the current lineup. Since then SHISS has played in their surrounding area and has had several experiences playing in downtown Minneapolis at the First Avenue 7th St. Entry. In 2006 SHISS started writing their own music, ranging in a wide variety of sounds until they finally found their style. In late 2007 they wrote and recorded their first self-titled album. Not being completely satisfied with the sound of that record, they discarded the songs shortly after releasing the record and started over writing new material for their future demo.
SHISS’ views on music are different. They concentrate on making music the way they enjoy it, not writing it to sound like something they’ve heard already, which so many bands seem to be doing to try and take the easy way out. Between big melodies and interesting rhythms, their music has a noticeable influence from all sorts of bands.
SHISS grew up together in the same small town and have known each other their whole lives, which is one of the many reasons they work together so well and make music they love so much for the people that are open to listening to it.
