The Molecules

About Me

Molecules - The Molecules where formed in Oakland, Ca in 1990 seventeen years ago. Get it? It seems that some other groups want to tour and use the name Molecules. Sorry, I thought of it first. The Molecules have toured many times in North America, Europe and Asia. We have released 6 CDs the newest one Called Friends, which is a CD of new music and a DVD of past performances. We are touring the West Coast of the USA up to Canada starting 1/27/07 and then another tour of Europe starting in May and again in November of 2007. http://www.myspace.com/ronandersonmoleculespak and www.ronanderson-molecules.com lots of reviews at www.ronanderson-molecules.com/press_kit.htm

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Ron Anderson - guitar, voice, trumpet, Keys Thomas Scandura - drums John Shuriba - bass, voice.Past membersChris Millner - bass, voice Ryo - bass
Influences: Around 1990 there where very few bands in the world doing what the Molecules where doing, the Boredoms/Ruins come to mind, although I never heard of these bands until around 91 or 92. The influence was to take all the music that we liked and try to do something new. Free Jazz and Improvisation, Punk and Hardcore, Prog-rock, performance art, 20 Century Classical music. All the music and bands that I played with in New York in the 80's was a part of it. Chris Millner (who I meet and played with at the end of the 1980’s in New York) and myself would spend hours talking about music and art and the kind of music that we wanted to make. All of our CDs were recorded at my 8-track demo-recording studio in Oakland, CA. (Remember analogue tape?). Some people called the music we made No-Fi, some called it Free Rock, Punk-Prog, Avant-rock, some people just called it shit. The basic ideas: take highbrow art and make it lowbrow, make it Ugly, make it "rock", make it not "rock", play beyond one's own limitations, make it wrong. – Ron Anderson

Sounds Like: Invasion de molecules survoltées !

Uploaded by peroline During the Spring 2007 European Tour we performed at every kind of venue, big festivals, clubs, bars, even a house party filled with crazy, drunk and dancing university students, as evidenced in the video above: sloppy, sweaty, with bad sound and just the way I like it.......................................................... ......................................................... buy the new Molecules CD "Friends" from direct from me at ronanderson-molecules.com, also from...
