Brisco Brothers

About Me

Who are the Brisco Brothers? The Brisco Brothers are two young, black men who emerged from the heart of the ghetto and aspire to be great jazz musicians. David and Jonathan Brisco have been playing jazz since the tender ages of 6 and 5 respectively and have been growing musically ever since. The brothers’ come from a background where finances were not always sound and where their peers were not always into the most positive activities. Their father, Ronald Brisco, put jazz into their hearts and made sure that they stayed out of the streets.
David Brisco, 19 years old, is the older brother and the trumpet player. His playing is often described as “explosive” and “outspoken”, and most commonly referred to as “Dizzy” after the great Dizzy Gillespie for his puffed out cheeks. He also has a very eccentric ability to sustain a note for as long as wants…sometimes up to 5 minutes. He created the jazz club at his high school and is currently (and surprisingly) majoring in structural engineering at the University of California San Diego. David has won several distinct honors in his musical abilities; which include 3 consecutive gold medals at the NAACP ACT-SO competition locally. David is more or less the one to handle the business side (promoting, booking, etc.) of the Brisco Brothers.
Jonathan Brisco, 17 years old, is the younger brother (and taller brother) and is known as the “silky-smooth” saxophonist. Jonathan (or John) is known to be very mellow and relaxed when he plays. Jonathan is also a mastermind at creating smooth jazz songs. In some cases, this occurs within a few minutes. He is also the principal architect behind the Brisco Brothers’ album “Chill Zone”. Besides being a talented saxophonist, John is also the most talented basketball player at his high school and looks towards doing great things in that field as well.
Together the Brisco Brothers have done a laudable amount of accomplishments for not being under a record label and anyone and everyone who hears them will concede to their inevitable future as great smooth jazz musicians. They have done performances at literally hundreds upon hundreds of concerts opening for jazz greats such as Kirk Whalum, Ronnie Crumbly, and more. The amazing duo is entering the limelight with their new hit project “Chill Zone”. They have scraped and toiled arduously in order to make this album a reality and the end result shows it. The album is incredible and does as it proclaims-creates a “Chill Zone”.
The Brisco Brothers believe that they will change the way jazz is looked at and open it up to a much wider audience that will also include people within their age group. Instead of coming with and appearing to be the traditional face of jazz, they want to present jazz with a younger, stylistic twist. They believe jazz, being the root of all music in America, is not destined to die away but rather live on forever and be heard by all.
Firstly, we would like to thank God Almighty for bringing us to where we are now. We would also like to thank everyone who has supported us from the very beginning and are still continuing their support. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the album and its release and anyone who has contributed anything that made whatever you see a reality. A very special thanks to mom and dad...for encouraging us throughout the whole process and especially to dad for puttin music into our hearts, whether we wanted it or not (we love it now). A special thanks to Ronnie Crumbly for providing us with expert advice, what would we have been putting out if it wasn't for him...haha. Special thanks to Kurt Pier for recording and making our songs sound amazing and adding those smooth guitar lines in our songs (and percussion work). Thanks to John Broussard for outstanding photography...beats all the rest. A big thanks to Sharen for being there when we most needed and helping push the album into completion (she put our ideas into actions). We would like to thank our auntie Pat for helping afford the photoshoot. Thank you Bree for helping setup our page with your meticulous grammar checks (haha) and for helping with the tickets and concert prep work. Thanks to Kamau Kenyatta, my music teacher out in San Diego for taking me in. Thanks to Carolyn Cherry and Danielle White for being amazing promoters and sellers, you guys have really carried us to the finish line. Thanks to all the presale supporters such as Auntie Rita and Kenny, Jolisa, all my college friends, Morgan, Lacy, Reinhart block, and everyone else. A big thanks to Kevin Phillips, Joel Hill, and Joshua Crumbly for being the amazing band you are and helping turn our album tracks into live music. Thanks to Joshua Thompson for helping us with just about anything we need help with, tickets, promotions, etc....we owe you so much as well. There are sooo many more people who have contributed and it would take forever to mention every single person, but we thank you and appreciate your contribution. Even if you just simply added our page, we appreciate it. Enjoy!

Rest In Peace Freddie Hubbard
