Red Crayons

About Me

In 2006 Sam Hutchin and Daniel Cravero combined forces for an acoustic project playing shows in small Sydney venues and busking on the streets of Manly drawing crowds and making people dance to their earthy tunes but this wasn’t enough.A few jam sessions in the industrial zones of the Northern Beaches using the full force of an amp and a drum kit sparked an interest in creating a signature sound and developing their craft to their full potentialPainting intricate pictures through sound and melancholy madness, in 2007 they decided to get serious. Red Crayons enterered Damien Gerard Studios and recording a loud, raw and emotional demo that has been recevied with enormous praise and the future ceratinly looks bright. With influences such as Led Zeppelin, John Butler Trio, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Credence Clearwater Revival, Black Sabbath, The White Stripes , Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC, Stone Temple Pilots , Kings Of Leon , The Living End , Rage Against The Machine , Prodigy and anything with rock and roll swagger and a twist of lemon the duo have set out to create a live experience instead of just another show. Their sound can be described as raw, blues psychedelic rock draw you in then ease you out when you least expect it. In 2009 the boys headed back into Sound Surround Studios they have been reahearsing and are sounding a lot more confident and experimental and now are preparing alot of new material for the up coming E.P Due for release March - April 2010. An 8 track E. P the boys are excited and havent really decided where or with whom they wil record it so too al ya Sound Engineers out there !!!! Title: Unknown stay tuned!!!!!!!!! The Red Crayons 2009 has started with a bang with a gig at Manly Fisho's 7th March to unleash ther new material saw them draw huge crowds and being asked back. Its a bit quicker with bigger choruses and longer guitar solo's and thumpin drum beats that get into your head and cant get out. - They've come a longway since starting on the streets late at night busking on the Corso and will be searching far and wide too play ther new material to ears never seen before look out for these boys. You will be amazed. They are primed for a huge show at The Annandale Hotel -FBI Fundraiser 8th July 2009 so come down and support em if ya can and Save FBI. 2009 has been a huge year playin at Octoberpuss 13 Red Crayons certainly found there place playing with Downtime , R.U.S.T, Kill The Motive , Rock N Roll Weapon and many more. review Octoberpuss 13 - Hit the stage opening with a catchy grunge song " Stuck In The Middle" that was well recevied by the large crowd. For 2 guys they hav a big sound and benefited from there tightness and dynamics of 2 instruments. 2010 will be a even bigger year and are heading into the studio to record ther long awaited E.P look out for that at stores near you. Having played at The Annanadale, The Hopetoun Hotel, Candy's Appartment, Spectrum, The Cat and Fiddle, The Excelsior Hotel, The Vic On The Park , Surry Hills - Gaffa Gallery, Newtown RSL, , and the good old Manly Fisho's and surpporting some of Australia's and International upcoming bands including - Downtime , R.U.S.T , Kill The Motive , Rock N Roll Weapon , The Future Device , Maus , Sludge Buzzard , Mrs Vengence, The Dens , The Butcher, The Mutes , Monkey Puzzle , Ninth Pillar, Red Bee , Iron Jack, Emergency Emergency , Greenland , Jesse Morris Project , Arcaine , and Talkback Radio, Sluice and 46 Clicks, Paris Inferno, Palladium 8 . There’s only one intention from this duo: To set the Sydney scene alight and paint the town RED.
