Cryptic Prophecy is a metal band with various influences whose sound mainly focuses on a fusion of melody and aggression, and has recently begun incorporating an epic feel. We have self-released a few cds, including a full-length album, but none were too aggressively promoted. The ten songs from the debut album, Descent Into Darkness (2008) can be found at www.myspace.com/aequitasanoctem, under the band's old name. We are currently working on a second album, which is being recorded more professionally, and is musically more complex.
The band was formed as Nox in 2004 by Andrew, Cristian, and 3 other friends, and has since been through multiple name changes, a gradual but significant stylistic evolution, and too many lineup changes to count. The current lineup still struggles with issues like distance, but it doesn't stop us from continuing to write and to play when we can.
Throughout most of Cryptic Prophecy's time as a band, Andrew has been the primary songwriter, frontman, and bandleader. Cris has always been the drummer, with the exception of a brief run as a guitarist with a different drummer. Edgar has proven to be the best second guitarist by far and has begun to contribute tremendously to the band with songwriting and intense dedication, despite having many other commitments. Alex Torke, a former second guitarist, rejoined the band relatively recently, this time on bass, and has proven to be our most dedicated bassist yet.
Cryptic Prophecy shares members with True Vengeance, The Suicide Addicts, and Unfortunately No?, as well as a few other inactive bands including Shattered Revelation, Incest, and Odyssy.
