Hello everyone, my name is Lily. I’m originally from Tanzania, East Africa, but have lived in the States for about 15 years now. When I first came here, I believed America is a land of opportunities and still do today. One thing I realized is that in order to become very successful in this country, on in any country for that matter, is by owning your own business and be willing to help out other people in the process. Two and a half years ago, Dec 2005, I got the opportunity to go back to my birth country for the first time in 13 years! I’d become so Americanized that I was almost starting to loose a sense of where I came from. America has provided me with great opportunities, a great education and wisdom, and Tanzania has also given me wisdom and life. Before my family and I made the trip, I kept thinking to myself how am I going to give back to these two countries!? As some may know, Tanzania is a very poor, but one of the most beautiful and peaceful countries is Africa. Healthcare services are in need of major improvements. Many children die from malaria and other easily treatable diseases. So I came up with the idea of opening up clinics (one to start with) within the next 5 years in Tanzania. I’m currently working as a Registered Nurse in Philadelphia, PA. With a couple of more years of experience, an MSN and some funding, I will definitely be on my way towards opening up the clinic.
