The Weatherman Add

Add to My Profile | More VideosHi Everyone, welcome to the Songbirds MySpace page. We are Lynette from Liverpool, Flick from Devon and last but not least Amy from Surrey. We’ve been together for about 2 years now and have been working hard in the studio recording our debut album ‘Wake Up Call’ which we are all immensely proud of and is due for release in the summer.Ever since we were little girls, individually we all wanted to be singers, so we couldn’t believe our luck when our producers Bradley and Stewart James offered each of us the amazing chance to be one third of a group. We set to work on the songs straight away and spent most of our first year together recording our album. We were all a little nervous to begin with but soon settled-in to the little purple studio in east London that we now consider our second home. The first song we recorded was ‘The Weatherman (no wonder I feel blue)’ which is probably playing as you read this! We knew we were onto something amazing, as an emotional shudder ran up our spines on hearing the finished tracks played back to us for the first time…The sound of Songbirds was born!!The album has been describe as acoustic pop. It has an organic sound with an acoustic backdrop and has a beautiful relaxing quality to it.We have just completed our regional radio tour which was a fantastic experience and our single 'The Weatherman (no wonder I feel blue)' is now available on Itunes. We look forward to the road ahead! Now for the individual intros: Hi I'm Flick. I'm 25 years old and I'm currently living in the depths of Devon. I love the outdoors, I grew up in the heart of rural Wiltshire and spent my childhood making dens, swimming in rivers and climbing trees. I love the countryside, the big skies, the seaside and even rainy days! I've loved singing for as long as I can remember, my mum tells me that I started whistling tunes when I was only 2 years old, and ever since then music has played a big part in my life.Hi I'm Amy, I started ballet at the age of 5 which eventually led to a desire to pursue a career in Musical Theatre. Most of my time throughout the years was spent engrossed in dance and singing classes and performances and at the age of 19 I attended drama school. However, I soon realised that singing was what I wanted to strive for and I was then fortunate enough to become a third of the songbirds.Hi I'm Lynette, I'm 24 years old and born and bred in Liverpool. From the age of 7 to 15 I joined my dad's very successful karate club (Liverpool Streetwise). There I achieved a first Dan black belt, and became the junior British/European kick boxing champion in 1993. I retired undefeated in 1997. From the age of 14 I developed a passion for music and singing, so I attended the Liverpool Theatre School taking coaching and exams in performing arts. I performed on various shows where I got a lot of experience in live entertainment. From the age of 16 I teamed up with my dad doing local gigs, duets/solo and also playing the guitar.Well, thanks for visiting! We hope you enjoy our songs and look forward to seeing you soon.ThanksSongbirds xxIn the meantime take a look at our website WWW.SONGBIRDSBAND.COM. MySpace Profile Photo Editor ..

Influences: The legendary Eva Cassidy has been a major inspiration as a person and as a great singer for all three of us. She had the ability to interpret other people’s songs and make them sound like her own. She had the power to move you emotionally with just her voice…a connection that only great singers have. All three of us draw inspiration from different genres and artists which we hope you can hear in our individual voices, helping to make the ‘sound’ of the Songbirds so unique.Lynette’s influences: I was brought up on Glen Cambell and Elvis Presley as I always remember their songs being played as I was growing up! Especially every Christmas my dad would play Blue Christmas by Elvis in the morning…so that song is sentimental to me. As I got older I started to listen to Soul and Motown as well as alternative music. Here are some of my influences although there are so many I just chose a few…Elvis Presley, Glen Cambell, Micheal Bolton, Lisa Stansfield, Mariah Carey, The Eagles, Billy Joel, Dom Maclean, Diohne Warwick, George Michael, Aaron Neville.Amy’s influences: Growing up I was always listening and watching Musicals and I suppose they are responsible for me singing today. Listening to them encouraged me to take my first singing lesson. In terms of specific singers I would have to say that Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey played a huge part in inspiring me to sing. No one can ever deny that they have great, powerful voices. Here are just a few others...Joni Mitchell, Kiri te kanawa, Celine Dion, Faith Hill and Madonna.Flick’s influences: I’ve probably inherited my style and taste in music from my Dad who has always listened to folk/country artists, from the likes of Bob Dylan to Steeleye Span. Singers that influence me, to name but a few are… Sheryl Crow, The Dixie Chicks, Emmylou Harris, Mindy Smith, Seth Lakeman, Kate Rusby, Sarah Evans, Karine Polewart, Stevie Nicks, Iris DerMent, Damion Rice, Sinead O’Conner, Jethro Tull, Kirsty MacColl.
