Formed in the Fall of '06, We Are The Detached came together as a group of musicians who all had deep roots in the Rochester music scene. WATD began writing songs that matched their collective mindset of reckless abandon and raw cynicism. Making no effort to brand themselves with a certain genre, the boys were hellbent on creating aggresive music that would recapture the spirit of a scene gone dead with unoriginality. The name "We are the Detached" only seemed too perfect when everything else seemed lackluster or predictable, but as time went on due to diference of opinion the members shut down and cleaned house, with out any warning.
After riding on only 7 shows, and already turning the heads of several labels being kept in mind, guitarist Joey Arena filtered rochester to surface the right crew for the right job. With a new name, fresh start, and baby faces to make a long story short... Arena caught up, and found his members. Mark Nacey (of They Sleep They Dream), and fresh faces Chris Klumpp, Tim Lasky and Justin Colonomos. Renaming it was a process in a sense of what would fit best to the music. After several diner talks they had out perfect fit. "Kiss the Girls".
But dont let the name fool you, for they are now more loud and chaotic but not without a sense of control. Unrelenting and offensive but never lacking poetic insight. Emotional yet removed from rationality. Building not only a band, but hopefully a movement for anyone that identifies with the message. With this running theme of "detachment," and drawing inspiration from films and books of a similar nature, the band continues to rocket forward to their aurally and lyrically abrasive arrival. Whether you'd join the ranks or cast them aside, this band will exist, even if only for the purpose of raising a defiant middle finger and exclaiming, "Kiss the Girls!".
