Influences:
’Germany’s Hoek are about as far from the desert as you can get. But in sound they are smack dab in the middle of it. (...) Hoek (a slash thru the "o") have a very desert-influenced sound, with elements of psychedelia, 60’s and 70’s rock with a bit of metal thrown in for good measure. Noticeable influences on sound are Black Sabbath, Nebula and Gas Giant. They also feature a Blues for the Red Sun and Sky Valley - period Kyuss type wall of sound.’ (Daryl Baysinger, Hellride Music)
’This is some heavy-ass variety stoner rock. High energy freedom blues psychedelic rock with great vocals that remind me of a mix between Robert Plant and Ian Astbury. It’s mostly driving riff rock. Sometimes busy like Tool, sometimes more straight ahead 70’s (Deep Purple) style space rock. Like a locomotive chugging down the tracks. Great breaks and progressive qualities thrown in on the average 4-6 minute songs. (...) heavy driving psychedelic...your desert stoner stuff. File this one by Kyuss and Dozer.’ (robwrong, StonerRock.com)
Sounds Like:
’The music is always floating with cosmic effects, heavy grooved based riffs and perfectly sung vocals by Robin C G. This 3 –piece know how to rock and I can imagine their tour would have been a fucking killer to see. (...) a ton of heavy typical stonerish riffs, the vocals reminding a lot of Pete Stahl who in most minds, is one of the best vocalist getting around today. Well Robin C. G. Is close to topping him on this one, this guy can play guitar and also sing fucking well! (...) Germany is really starting to get some quality bands together and Hoek sit in the front line of this scene! Rock on “Hoek†and keep producing great records guys you’ve nailed this one right on the head...’ (Matt Frighetto, PlanetFuzz)
