Dancing, dancing and, did I mention, DANCING??? I also enjoy reading (you'll almost never spot me without a book); traveling (which I get to do quite a bit through...you guessed it, DANCING!); BUCKEYE FOOTBALL!!!!
and watching football in general; movies; theatre; classic car shows and working on cars, though I admittedly don't know a whole lot -yet-; photography and scrapbooking; home repairs/remodeling; stargazing; hiking and camping; cooking/baking; the list goes on and on!

Dean Koontz and Drew Barrymore, among others!!! Koontz because he is an amazing writer, combining humor with horror to create un-put-downable (See Mel's dictionary for definition) novels, and Barrymore because I admire everything about her....starting as a child star, overcoming drugs at such a young age and continuing with her career after that setback. Her outlook and positive views are refreshing, and an example of the way I'd like to always be able to see the world.
Music:
Country first, but I enjoy just about all types of music. On my list of favorite artists would be Emerson Drive, Neil Diamond, Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Eagles, Clay Walker, Kenny Chesney, Reba McEntire, Trick Pony, Red Wanting Blue, Taylor Swift, Sugarland, and many more! I also love Swing Era, Big Band music, including the newer stylings of bands such as Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Big Bad Voo Doo Daddy, and Squirrel Nut Zippers.
Movies:
I could never list one favorite, but among my faves would be The Little Mermaid, Monsters, Inc., Love Actually,
Dirty Dancing, Murphy's Romance, Benny and Joon, Tombstone, Finding Nemo, all the Harry Potters, Save the Last Dance, Titanic, Runaway Bride, and anything Disney. I lean toward the romantic, dramatic, and comedic, but also love a good action flick as well. I mostly shy away from horror and slapstick comedy, but there are even a few of those that I enjoy.
Television:
Ah, an easy one. Lorelai and Rory, Richard and Emily, Luke, Logan, Dean, Jess, Paul Anka---Gilmore Girls had me hooked! Now they've taken my favorite television show off the air...fortunately I have the boxed DVD sets to sustain me!Other than Gilmore Girls I watch a lot of Food Network. I love Bobby Flay, Paula Dean, Rachel Ray...I just watch whatever is on when I'm in the kitchen!
Books:
All time favorite is probably "Wuthering Heights"...ah, Heathcliff! Also loved Jack London's "The Call of the Wild". Corie ten Boom's "The Hiding Place", anything by Dean Koontz or Nora Roberts, Nicholas Sparks, Nicholas Evans, Katie MacAllister. If those aren't available, I'll read ANYTHING!!! As long as I have -something- to read!!!
For any of you that know Herman's story, this cartoon fits perfectly! Thank you, Herman, for providing our amusement!
Heroes:
My mom. I know, it sounds cliched, but she truly is a remarkable lady. We didn't get along all that well when I was younger, but now she is one of my best friends, and I value her opinion over any other. I'm finally at a point in my life where I can see the reasons she made some of the decisions she did, and I can only hope to make decisions as wisely and responsibly as she has.
