**NEW SULLEN SERENADE ARTICLE**
This article was taken from the May 2007 Issue of Crawling Tunes Magazine and was written in German. The reviewer gives very high acclaim to Sullen Serenade's music and gives the debut CD a 12/12 star rating!!
Article from Industrial Nation Magazine:
“The only other demo I received in this genre is a very old 0999) self-titled demo from Downfall Funeral. These San Marcos, Texans portray a very dark and (slow!) tribal percussion section that has a very Mideastern feel to it as well as a neo-classical instrumentation. A strong Dead Can Dance influence can be heard here. But what makes Downfall Funeral stand out are the extremely prominent and deep bass lines that glide beautifully with the percussion and other musical elements that are used. I was very impressed with the Robert Smith influence heard within the bassist’s experienced playing.†Industrial Nation Magazine Dark/Wave Goth Demo Review by Lisa Swiss
Article from Firecracker Magazine:
“Okay, it seemed a lot later than it really was by this time, and after a long D.J. set by MadMax of Sin 13, out of the darkness came an angelic soaring male voice gradually transforming to an anguished yell and crashing into a cacophony of tribal drums & bass. This is how Downfall Funeral starts a show. WHOA!
Originally from Laredo, the band now calls San Antonio their home. and S.A. has never seen anything like them. Even though they’ve played several shows in Laredo and the River City, this was definitely the biggest yet. It’s hard to describe D.F.F. Some of their songs have almost a rock ballad sort of feel, and others have a definite middle eastern flavor but they all have Christopher Martinez’s awesome vocals, Rafael Rodriguez’s driving bass, and Robert Flores’ unreal drum work who’s kit utilizes percussion instruments from all over the world and rivals Neil Peart’s in size. San Antonio, I think we have a winner! D.F.F., I can honestly say, stole the show.†Firecracker Magazine by P.D’ Zenhed (Midian 2002)
