Not just another city, another state or even another country. A place that is almost off the planet. A place where traditional laws, morals and ways of life no longer exist. To explain, let’s take the word “C.R.U.I.S.E” and sum it up in one sentence…. “Can’t, Rest, Until, I’ve, Shagged, Everybody”.That is precisely what happens when you step aboard one of the hundreds of cruise ships around the world as a member of the crew. I’m talking specifically about being a crew member on board a luxury cruise ship not just a passenger.From the moment you arrive, everything changes, almost like there is a bin as you arrive at the top of the gangway with the word “morals” written on it. As you pass through the shell of the ship you drop yours in the bin and assume a different personality. From that moment on you are being watched. Whether it be by one of the hundreds of surveillance cameras, the captain and his officers or simply by other crew members, your every move is being monitored & scrutinized and you are being judged accordingly.Television shows such as Big Brother and survivor choose not to have former cruise ship staff on their shows simply because crew have already been subject to and are mentally and physically prepared for the conditions that they would encounter on such TV shows.A traditional week of Monday to Sunday disappears on board nearly as quickly as your washing if left in the crew laundry and if you don’t wash your hands properly or touch the wrong railing, you and the other 2500 people on board could end up with the worst imaginable case of gastro within hours.With all that in mind and for the entire crazy goings on of a cruise ship, it continues to be an incredible experience for those willing to try it.One man has managed to not only experience all of this but also capture it and mold it into an incredible feature length script. Dan Shearin, along with his screen writting partner Eddie Leeon, have captured the essence of what makes this unique world tick and cleverly set it to a captivating story of music and love. Set to a brilliant soundtrack of which the movie’s main characters perform the musical numbers, this movie will do for cruising what “Cocktail” did for bartenders. "Destiny" is a romantic comedy that intelligently opens the world’s eyes to a largely unknown way of life.Dan Shearin has lived for the last 6 years working on board cruise ships and has seen it all when it comes to this industry. His experience as a singer and Cruise Director has allowed him to get right amongst the story and bring it all to the surface so that those who may not be lucky enough to experience it first hand can at least experience it. The movie is as true to life as is legally possible and pushes the envelope far enough to excite the audience but not far enough that it might land some of his former crew mates (who his characters are loosely based on) in any trouble.
