Nostalgia: THE REMEDY @ Joshua Brooks...
I bought my first pair of decks at 15, i put my Super Nintendo
down for a week. I've hardly even looked back :D
Funnily enough, the first piece of vinyl I ever bought
was a DnB choon, even though i didnt really know it at
the time! it was "Da Lick" 7. I
picked it out of a bargain bin in a shop in Lancaster. It
was £1 and it got everyones heads in the place bouncing
when i spun it on the system! hehe, Yesss
I spent a lot on choons that were big at the time too,
mainly house and trance records. playing at school
friends' house parties and so on. But, after getting my
paws on the Jungle Mania 94 compilation on cassette
my eyes were fully opened to Jungle DnB and the
mixing possibilties it held. Something then clicked in
my head, as far i was concerned, Bollox to the
mainstream. This was where its at right now.
For ME, Jungle is Still the most rhythmical and
inspiring electronic music movement. Certainly the
king of the dance scene? The whole spectrum of
Jungle DnB, drawing influence from any style that
works. Sampling Reggae to Techno, Jazz to
Hip-Hop. Even after all these years ive followed it
and the small fortune i've spent on feeding my
hunger for it, I STILL feel the same way. I will
continue to, until something better comes along!!
A style for every mood and a response for every
question. Always chasing the next bar, Anticipating
the next edit, absorbing the strings, pads and
riding the basslines. Nothing makes me feel alive
like Jungle. Its Visceral and Uplifting. It Grabs you
by the bollox and doesn't let go.
This is THE SHIT! and nothings gonna change that.
Jungle Evolves, Jungle is Forever.......Amen Brother!
