Stepping out of the dark

About Me

Welcome!! I am Jim Platt, hope you enjoy the music!! As you may or may not know, I am a Acoustic Artist from Derry Pennsylvania. While growing up I was raised up listening to music like The Beatles and John Lennon. About ten years ago I picked up a guitar and began teaching myself how to play and write music.
Playing guitar was difficult because I am left handed and in my guitar class at school they only had right handed guitars, so I had to teach myself how to play right handed. And my first song I was ever able to play was Nowhere Man by the Beatles. For about six years I have been attempting to write music. I have felt I have progressed throughout the years in my song writing.
I teamed up with my friend Tim Noel to form an acoustic band called Autumn Lane, though it only lasted for 3 months; but they wore 3 great months!! The first real pieces of music I wrote were "Immortal" and "Time." Then I kept up on my song writing till the songs I wrote seemed to be more complete.
I ended up getting laid off from work and began writing alot more music never thinking it would lead me into writing a Full length CD which featured "Her Lullaby," "Vanilla Sky," and "My Farewell." which wore at the time the best songs I felt I have ever written.
After being laid off from work again I began to begin work on my next CD which is called "Tea For Two" a 14 track CD which I feel has shown my greatest progress in song writing and is avalible for anyone! My music is free to anyone, because God gave this talent to me and my music is to share with all of you!! Thank you for listening and feel free to talk with me! I love hearing from anyone even if its not about music!!! Take care, God Bless!!
I have played shows at:
Legion Keener Park Band Shell, in Latrobe, PA.
Coffee Bean, Coffee Shop, in Latrobe, PA.
The Underground Refuge, in New Castle, PA.
Latrobe Methodist Church fair, in Latrobe, PA.
Christin Book Store, Indiana PA.
DV8 Coffee House, Greensburg, PA.
A Radio Show on IUP Mug 105.3, in Indiana, PA.
PA ROCK SHOW, in Leechburg, PA.

I play guitar, some piano, write my own songs, and sing. If you like what you hear and would like me to play a show or if you just like the music, message me or leave a comment.
Thanks and God Bless
First off I would like to thank, God of course for giving me the ability to write music and play guitar, I would also like to thank my fiance Shannon Noel for sticking by me with her support and love, and also for her input on songs; especially for her mute guitar idea on "You Left Me." And also Dave Hill for working and producing and using his knowledge and talents on the album, "Tea For Two." Dave played elecric guitar on the solo on "I am here, there, everywhere," and also sang with me on the song "All that matters (You're all that matters)" and did back up vocals on.."You Left Me," (which also featured Tessa Peterman, and Shawn Dando on back up vocals on the muted guitar part of the song of "You left me"). Dave also sang back up vocals on "Woodstock", "Every Waking Moment" and played shakers on "Farewell To Autumn, " Thanks Dave and to everyone else!! Everything sounds great!
