Orcus saw the light of day in the fall of the year 2000. Five friends,
who wanted to make some music, got together without any of them knowing how to play.
At first we did some covers, nothing grand or stylish, just raw and fun.The line up back than was:
*Dale: Guitar
*Wokke: Guitar
*Dretch: Drums
*Spoele: Bass
*Acki: Vocals and GuitarWe evolved a bit, learned how to play and started to write our own songs.
With the help of so many friends and other local bands,
we got our first gigs and the musical landscape in our hometown of Zemst started to grow with us.
Nobody really cared about a style or something, it was just raw, fast and fun!
We decided to record a first demo, and headed to Bruno from Intestinal Disease and he arranged
our first cd, titled "Warshell". The demo sold pretty well, good enough to keep us going
for some time and it got us some more gigs. We carried on, growing in sound and
in December 2002 we recorded our first full-length album at Dyprins in Borgloon,
titled "streets of Unity". Maybe it was the youthful enthusiasm, or maybe it was the lack of promotion,
but the disk didn't sell or got received so well…
We slowed down for a while. Why? No fucking idea! I guess everybody just needed some time
to set his own things straight and to have a moment for himself.
In the winter of 2003 we invited Doike with us to assist on vocals. At first he was only going to feature
on a few songs, but it worked out so well, we decided to make him a full-time member!
The line up these days was:
*Dale: Guitar
*Wokke: Guitar
*Dretch: Drums
*Spoele: Bass
*Acki: Vocals
*Doike: VocalsSupported by many, and ignored by more, we got our shit back together and decided to take a new start.
Our name changed from Orcus into O.R.C.U.S. (Our Rage Can Unleash Suddely) and started
to take things a bit more serious. After years of playing an indefinable form of punk/HC/Oi!,
we grew to make a decent style of Hardcore, blending the old-school with some NYHC and metal influences.
In the fall of 2005 we recorded a demo with the kind cooperation of Jurgen and Jan at their home-studio.
A few months later, Spoele decided to call it quits and he leaves the band. Bart, former bassplayer for Vinnies Cunts replaces him.
O.R.C.U.S. has never been, and never will be about scoring points with people,
or about making name fast and disappearing even faster. We're just 6 individuals,
who love to play music to get out what's deep within.
We owe eternal gratitude to all the people and bands who supported us over the years.
Without those people, it would have meant nothing…
