The hard rock band "KILLJOY" was founded by guitarist/singer/songwriter Mike Tanber in the fall of 1996. Performing first as a three piece band, Tanber, along with Junior Demarlo(bass), and George Gregory(drums) spent considerable time in the rehearsal room working on Mike's original material. Soon thereafter with the addition of second guitarist Lee Scott, the band began playing the local club circuit. Although the band quickly gained popularity and a strong fan base, musical differences led to a change in the line-up. Tanber (along with Scott) recruited long time friend and partner in musical crime Wally Veden(drums), and Chris Glanz(bass, vocals). With the new line-up and everyone on the same page "KILLJOY" (who call Michigan City,IN their home town) soon began playing to capacity crowds and getting rave revues. In late 1997 the band went to Chicago to begin work on their self financed, self released, self titled CD "KILLJOY". Released in february of "98", the record was produced by Mike Tanber and Eric Perina. Killjoy live shows are packed with ear splitting volume and raw energy. Tanbers' unpredictable stage antics range from emotional outbursts to humorous gestures to destructive violence. He sometimes likes to play his Gibson SG guitar with various objects found while lurking around in a possesed like state of mind. Drummer Wally Veden is the perfect compliment to Tanber's innovative style. Veden is a powerful, rock steady, accomplished drummer who's sense of timing and use of dynamics cannot be taught. He just has "IT". Over the years the two have played in at least four or five different bands together.
Since the turn of the century theres been quite a few different versions (member changes) of "KILLJOY". The band hasn't been active since 2003-2004. The next version of the band will include plans to record a new CD as Mikey(Tanber) has written a whole new array of songs and feels the need to let his frustrations out as "KILLJOY" returns.
