About Me

Originally from the plains of North Dakota, where my ancestors settled from Norway. The picture below is of my great grandfather and grandmother and my grandfather and great aunt. The picture was used for a postage stamp in Norway and the U.S. I love history and exploring the truth behind it. I was for many years a touring and studio musician , playing everywhere from Los Angeles to Montreal , Las Vegas and everywhere in between .I have won several awards which is nice but I am happy now to be at home with my family. I have 4 CD's in circulation ... "Groove 52" , " Outside Looking In ", "Passion for Hymns", and "Living in A Blue State". Now spending time recording and writing in my little studio in my home . I have enjoyed immensely playing with so many talented and gifted musicians over the years but I always wanted to write and record my own "stuff" . So here it is , good or bad, it's what I enjoy doing and sharing with people . I am now living in Washington state.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: cdbaby.com/all/rogerquesnell
Band Members: Roger Quesnell , keyboards , vocals . All songs written or arranged by Roger Quesnell .
Influences: Musically I have been influenced by Steely Dan , Yellowjackets, George Duke, Oscar Peterson, Van Morrison, Tower of Power, Jeff Lorber, Bernard Herrmann, John Williams, Bill Evans, not necessarily in that order. I have been more influenced by the greatest who ever walked the earth, Jesus of Nazareth . The great Christian apologists like Francis Schaeffer, R.C. Sproul, Ravi Zacharias, John Calvin, D. James Kennedy, Carl F.H. Henry. People who study history from a Christian worldwiew, such as Douglas Wilson, Peter Lillback, Steve Wilkins, George Grant . The truth in history , not the politically correct version, from great historians. Like "Bud" Robertson's book "Stonewall Jackson" . Steve Wilkins book on Robert E. Lee. "The Real Lincoln" by Tom DiLorenzo. "Godless" by Ann Coulter. "Total Truth" by Nancy Pearcy. "North Against South" by Ludwell Johnson . "A Theological Interpretation of American History" by Gregg Singer. "Stonewall Jackson" by Robert Lewis Dabney. "R. E. Lee" by Douglas Southall Freeman. Mix this all together with a love of fusion jazz, hockey, golf , politics, humor and what do you get? I dunno , but it's certainly not mainstream , a little bit quirky, and definitely eclectic.
Sounds Like: Me, cant get away from that , but really would like to play like Russell Ferrante, Oscar Peterson, and sing like Bobby Caldwell .
Record Label: Clover Creek Records
Type of Label: Indie

moral relativism

It occurs to me that school shootings are the consequence of an idea . An idea that has been promulgated by our government schools for decades . That is, the idea of moral relativism. One's truth...
