About Me

Brooklyn Aikikai, located at 6th Street and 3rd Ave in the Park Slope area of Brooklyn, New York, was established to spread the teachings, discipline, and philosophy of Aikido, as created by its founder, O-Sensei. Brooklyn Aikikai is affiliated with Birankai International North America, headed by T. K. Chiba, Shihan. Robert Savoca, Chief Instructor of Brooklyn Aikikai, began studying Judo and Aikido at age 13 in San Diego County. He studied Aikido while attending the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and later trained at the West Los Angeles Aikido Institute. Moving to New York, he continued his study with Sensei Juba Nour, Director of Aikido of Manhattan. Afterwards, he apprenticed to Sensei T. K. Chiba, Shihan (personal student of O-Sensei, and Director of the United States Aikido Federation Western Region) as an uchideshi. Savoca holds the rank of 4th Dan, Shidoin, and is certified to teach by the United States Aikido Federation, Western Region.Visit our website for schedule and other info: www.brooklynaikikai.com
