It is rare in this industry to come across an artist who has the seemingly effortless ability to transcend genre and pierce the soul. Originally from a small town outside of New Orleans, Courtney Cole is truly a gem. Regarding growing up in New Orleans, Courtney says, “New Orleans has always had a rich history and reputation for being a melting pot of people, talents, beliefs, and pursuits.†That mindset, lifestyle, and heart of the South that Courtney witnessed in Louisiana serves as a constant inspiration in her musical journey that has led her to Nashville.A true artist- not just an act, Courtney has a true appreciation for great interpreters of powerful music. A hit starts with a great song, but a dynamic voice must deliver and interpret that song in a way that touches people. Courtney’s influences range from Celine Dion to Patsy Cline. People who enjoy Kelly Clarkson’s music often identify with Courtney’s tone and dynamic range. She hopes that fans of such artists she respects will fall in love with her music as well.A Belmont University student in Nashville, Courtney is working daily to perfect her craft and share her love of music with all who enjoy it. A member of the select Phoenix vocal group, she takes the stage often and always blows the crowd away. Much of Courtney’s success at Belmont is due to her rich history and wealth of experiences. She worked for six years with a vocal coach to hone her technique, landing her the lead roles in numerous school and community plays. Courtney was a leader in her high school choir and served as an intern to the musical director of her church.Even before making the move to Nashville, Courtney’s talent was much sought after. It comes as no surprise that she was selected as her high school’s Most Talented Individual. She opened for Billy Preston and Mavis Staples at the 2002 Orleans Parish Educators Convention, sang for the induction of Fats Domino into the New Orleans Hall of Fame, sang with Wardell Quezergue’s Big Band, was featured during the NFL Monday Night Football Halftime Show, took part in the Super Bowl XXXVI festivities at Fox Field, and sang the National Anthem at the 2002 Nokia Sugar Bowl Classic Basketball Tournament. She was a featured performer at several New Orleans Zephyrs baseball games, Mississippi Seawolves hockey games, and numerous Division I college events. Her entertainment has been requested by well-respected corporations and organizations such as the Louisiana Tourist Commission, Blue Cross of Louisiana, Coca-Cola, Jostens Corporation, the Wal-Mart Corporation and the Louisiana Department of Education. In addition to all of the above, Courtney has been a finalist in the 2003, 2004, and 2005 Miss Teen Louisiana Pageant, was in the top ten at the Miss Louisiana Pageant, was chosen to be a selected performer in Chris Owens’ annual Easter Parade held in the historic French Quarter in New Orleans, and was a top three finalist in the Access Broadway competitions in New York. Most recently, Courtney made it to the third round of this year’s American Idol competition.
