Soul Circus is a house production project started in 2007 by John Bossaert aka Jnb, Vincent Plas aka Vinny and Joeri Van Steen aka Bugsy. These 3 Belgian guys from Aalst/Ghent have been friends for more than 10 years now and have one passion in common...
MUSIC.
Jnb always had a passion for music. He started playing bass guitar at a young age and performed in several blues and rock bands. In High school he learned to appreciate electronic music and only a few years later he had already bought his first production gear so he could make music of his own. He quickly improved his producing skills and started building up his own studio, which today is still growing and growing. You can truly say that he became addicted to producing. He also performed house, techno & electro live acts at several parties and clubs. Today he mainly produces hiphop and house. In his free time he is almost always busy working on music, day and night, doing several projects at a time. One would think he never sleeps... He's the man!
Vinny is a real music freak. At a young age he was already headbanging to his older brother’s metal and rock ‘n roll records. At the age of 18 he started off as a dj, playing with Bugsy at several parties and clubs around Aalst. Together they helped organizing a few party projects in the city. Around 2002 Vinny found himself a new challenge, making his own music with just his computer. Some time later he concentrated so hard on learning music production that he stopped spinning for a few years. Occasionally he would still spin a few records at Bugsy’s house, but his focus was on the production side of music. In 2007, after Soul Circus got formed, Bugsy convinced Vinny to pick up dj-ing again to bring that so loved funky house music again. It actually all started in 1999 at Vinny’s home where they trained day and night, and later on figured out a system to handle 4 turntables and 2 mixers together. They recorded a few ‘4 decks’ house mixes which got some good responses. Now Bugsy and Vinny perform on 4 decks again under their alter ego Soul Circus.
Bugsy is one of the most motivated Djs in the Belgian house scene. When he isn’t busy tearing up mixes and destroying dance-floors, he’s either producing his own sound or organizing and promoting his parties. His passion lies with deep and dirty house music which he cuts up with extra samples and vocals. He draws his audience in with an extreme passion that truly captivates them and his record collection and jaw-dropping techniques on the turntables amazed a lot of people out there. He has built a solid reputation and is steadily becoming one of Belgium’s leading house DJs. He gained lots of respect for his now acclaimed ‘legendary’ home parties ‘Whats Cookin’, which moved eventually to bigger locations and is today still one of Belgium’s biggest house parties. From 2003 till 2006 he shared a monthly residency with Jensen at club Decadance where they occasionally did the Sunday morning closing session. Bugsy is also the leading man behind the ‘Boom Boom Room’ parties in Aalst and the ‘We Ain’t From Chicago’ concept in Ghent.
Over the years he played at all the major clubs and parties and has played alongside international Djs including Greenskeepers, East Coast Boogiemen, Justin Long, Dj Mes, Slater Hogan, Ian Pooley, Diz, Bryan Jones, Miles Maeda, Lance Desardi, Joey Youngman, Charles Webster, Inland Knights, Phil Weeks and many more
These 3 mates have never lost contact, but were not always involved in each others projects. After doing their own thing for several years, they have decided to unite their skills in one project to bring you their own productions and their own interpretations/remixes of songs from other music artists. They will try to bring you some quality house music.
