Band Members: I play with many different folks in various line-ups. A few regulars are Jason "Hound-dog" Henson, Lawrence "pimp-mobile" Jones, Sara "Dolly" Oshlag, Robin "I'll just make some tea" Watt, Terry "Seaweed" Seabrook, Dom "Cleanhead" O'Meeghan, Ian Price, Dan Hewson, Charlotte Glasson, Jonny "Where shall I leave my car?" Hepbir, Peter "What's in all your cupboards?" Watson, Baz Stanescu, Paul Aguileira, Matt "I don't play for money" Guez, Jo "Ectoplasm" Hunter, Roy Hilton, Giles "?" Gobat, and soo many more.....
Influences: Lots of Ray Brown in there. I love that simplicity and the forward motion. I recently became a total Cecil McBee freak. What a sound! And those low-down lines! I think I found my soul-mate. After that it's Ron Carter for lines, Christian McBride for taking the Ray Brown thing into the future, Neils Henning for stretching the limits, Percy Heath for unrelenting swing, Oscar Pettiford for laying the foundations, Jaco for being mental, Jon Scofield for his unique phrasing, Dexter Gordon for his whole approach, Tom Waits for everything he ever did, Oscar Peterson for all that piano trio stuff, Monty Alexander for those arrangements, everybody loves Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Coltrane, Bill Evans, Bud Powell, Monk. Chick Corea, Stevie Wonder. I could go on but no-one reads this far down anyway. I may as well start speaking in tongues. Burble burble, babbling and then suddenly stopping
Sounds Like: A double bass player. I'm not going to pretend I'm some sort of genius who sounds like Scott LaFaro on speed mixed with the deep soul of Ray Brown. I'm just an adequate bassist and that's all.
