After the success of the first single “Non lo faro’”, broadcasted for over one month on all the radios, we have the pleasure to announce the release of the second single excerpted from the new album “ CHI SEI”, with a promotional song available from May 18th called:
AL CENTRO DELLO SPAZIO
This song features a kaleidoscopic and almost surprise introduction which brings in the roaring refrain, a hymn to uncertain and unreturned love, where every certainty is hope.
It is powerful, majestic and refined, a new and masterly interpretation by Barbara Berta.
The promotion of the album “CHI SEI” features the appearance of Barbara as a guest at all the Ticinese radios with unplugged performances, at successful events like the welterweight boxing world championship, at the exhibition of Ticinese artists at the Espocentro in Bellinzona, along with a guest performance at the prestigious “Rock Targato Italia” night shows in Milan and various concerts in Ticino, in the Insubric region e in the Swiss hinterland.
The promotion takes also place on the Italian media, where the first single has been successfully broadcasted on many radios and, as well on Radio Sound Ferrara for an interview, Barbara will appear at Red Ronnie’s Roxy Bar, where the single will be officially presented with a live performance which will be transmitted by Radio network studio 5. This performance will also become the newest video production . Two episodes for the TV programme “Mi gioco la TV” of Teleromagna will be recorded and transmitted also by many other private Italian Tv channels via cable and on the Internet.
Barbara will appear as a guest in June on various programmes of the Swiss Italian Television, on the channel Rete 1, on the occasion of the most important sport event of the year, the football matches of our National Team at the European Football Championship.

1. febbraio 2008: è in arrivo il nuovo album di BARBARA BERTA – “ C H I S E I ? ” In anteprima presentiamo il singolo “NON LO FARÒ”
“Chi sei?” è il titolo del nuovo album di Barbara Berta, nuovo approdo della cantautrice che tutti ricordano come l’unica ticinese dopo Anita Traversi a rappresentare la Svizzera all’Eurosong. “Chi sei?” non è solo un ritorno, è un salto di qualità, un disco interamente suonato, vibrante e senza ricorso a facili tecnologie. Prodotto dalla Third Swiss Records di Nicola Calgari (già collaboratore di Prozac+, Sottotono, Afterhours, Matia Bazar…) in collaborazione con l’etichetta Terzo Millennio (Milano) di Francesco Caprini (Timoria, Marlene Kuntz, Litfiba, Soon…) e distribuito dalla SELF, l’album contiene 10 brani di Barbara e la cover di “America” di Gianna Nannini, archetipo del rock al femminile che ne fa quasi l’emblema del disco.
Il singolo “Non lo farò”, dalla presa immediata, inizia come una ballad ma sorprende sfociando in un ritmo spezzato e coinvolgente, mentre la linea vocale resta molto melodica. Questo primo singolo possiede delle buone potenzialità radiofoniche per il suo impatto e la particolarità delle ritmiche di chitarra dalle reminiscenze zeppeliniane. La lirica, si arricchisce ancora una volta del tocco autobiografico di Barbara, parlando del disagio di un contrasto privato, dell’orgoglio delle proprie idee anche nell’ intimità.
“Chi sei?” è un forte segnale di cambiamento. Barbara Berta cambia look e taglio di capelli. Cambia anche la sua musica.
“Chi sei?” è un faro che la cerca e la blocca contro un muro, il mirino del fucile di chi non ha capito che il suo girovagare notturno non nasconde loschi intenti o perversi intrighi: è il bisogno di emozioni forti, a strapiombo sopra un grattacielo, cercando ampi spazi sopra la città. “CHI SEI?” - BARBARA BERTA’s new album out now! And here comes the single in advance “NON LO FARÒ”
“Chi sei?” is the title of the new album of the swiss singer and composer who everybody remembers as the only one from Tessin to represent Switzerland at the Eurosong after Anita Traversi .
“Chi sei?” is more than a come-back. It’s a good quality jump, it’s a fully played record, vibrating and devoid of the help of easy technologies.
The album is produced by Nicola Calgari’s Third Swiss Records (Prozac+, Sottotono, Afterhours, Matia Bazar) in collaboration with Francesco Caprini’s Terzo Millennio label from Milan ( Timoria, Marlene Kuntz, Litfiba, Soon…) and distributed by SELF. It contains 10 new tracks and 1 cover, “America” by Gianna Nannini, archetype of the female rock who’s nearly the record’s symbol.
“Non lo farò” is immediately catchy, starts as a ballad but it surprises, flowing in a strong and broken rhythm, in spite of the voice remaining very melodic. This single is a potential radio hit due to the impact and the particular guitars rhythms. As always with Barbara’s autobiographical touch, the lyrics show the uneasiness about a privat conflict, the pride for her own opinions even in the intimacy.
“Chi sei?” marks a change: in fact Barbara is changing dressing and look, but also her music.
“Chi sei?” is a light beam that nails her on the wall, the rifle’s sight of who didn’t understand that her night wandering doesn’t hide suspicious purposes or perverted plots: it’s only about the need of wild emotions, like standing on the edge of a skyscraper, looking for large spaces over the city and intimacy to find in herself rebel feelings that fade away in the day light.

Biografia

Nata e cresciuta a Bellinzona nei mitici anni ’70, la sua prima passione è il football, con il quale arriva a giocare con la Nazionale Svizzera Femminile. Inizia presto anche a fare musica, con il fratello Kiko, bassista, e la sua band “Centrocittà”, subendo la fortissima influenza di artisti come The Beatles, Yes, Police, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Eurythmics.
Dopo un anno passato a Londra, inizia a studiare Jazz con Mamedoglu a Lugano, frequenta il CPM e il Nuovo Conservatorio di Milano e prende lezioni di soul con Luca Jurman e di lirica (M° Rogosin) per perfezionare l’ impostazione. .
All’ inizio della sua carriera canta con Steve Lee dei Gotthard, la piu’ grande band svizzera; il suo entusiasmo e il carisma da front-woman la portano presto ad esibirsi sui palchi di tutto il cantone con svariati progetti; al live affianca un’ intensa attività in registrazione nello studio del fratello. .
Inizia poi a comporre, scrivendo sia la musica che i testi per il suo primo album, registrato e pubblicato nel 1997. Nello stesso anno la sua fama varca i confini della Svizzera : vince la selezione per rappresentare la Svizzera all’ Eurofestival della Canzone, cui partecipa, a Dublino, con un suo brano, “ Dentro di me “, una song romantica e vibrante magistralmente interpretata, tanto da venir paragonata a Celine Dion. .
Entra subito nelle classifiche delle maggiori radio; seguono numerose apparizioni radiotelevisive e concerti, in cui dividerà il palco con artisti del calibro di Litfiba, Mark Owen, Gipsy Kings, Gotthard, Renato Carosone… .
Poliedrica, non si contenta della musica e si dedica al teatro ed alla danza; lavora come presentatrice; partecipa come attrice a numerose produzioni RAI, Canale 5 e TSI. Con le sue grandi capacità vocali, si dedica anche al jazz, cantando in duo con il pianista Giulio Granati nei migliori locali svizzeri e italiani. .
Continua a scrivere e produrre propri brani, spostandosi negli ultimi anni verso sonorità piu’ rock ed alternando un’ intensa attività live con la sua band a numerose partecipazioni televisive e radiofoniche.

Biography

Barbara was born in Bellinzona, Switzerland, and about her age she says she has the age she deserves. Her career began when she was 21, after an inspiring one year stay in London, where she studied and worked. At first her intention was to become an actress, but she eventually decided to join the show business, having had a strong influence of artists like the Beatles, Peter Gabriel, The Police, Sting, Annie Lennox, among many others. Back in Switzerland, Barbara started studying Jazz in Lugano and at the CPS of Milan, taking also some opera and soul lessons (with Luca Jurmann). She made her debut as a singer with Centrocittà, her brother’s band, who is a valued sound engineer and a well known musician too. In the meanwhile she studied modern dancing. At a dancing audition for the RTSI (the Swiss Television) she had the opportunity of her life: in 1997 she was asked to represent Switzerland at the Eurovison Song Contest in Dublin. That year can be considered the turning-point of Barbara’s life: the song she had sung in Dublin, “Dentro Di Me”, was written by herself and went on top of the Swiss radio charts. This song became the title-track of her first album, which was followed by the videoclip directed by Dany Soudani. Her growing success led to many radio and tv appareances, as well as live concerts. Barbara has sung through the years with famous artists like Litfiba, Mark Owen and Gipsy King, attending many important events. At the same time, she lent herself as a dancer, choreographer, and actress, working for RAI (Italian Television) and RTSI theatre and Tv productions. After a nine year break, taken in order to raise her daughter Melissa, she has come back in 2006 with the single “Fermati Girati”(also available in the English version: “Look into my eyes), which was launched on the Swiss radio and became a smashing summer hit, showing a more aggressive approach. Today on stage appears no longer a little girl, but a sharp and seductive woman, with an incredible hard rocking band!
