About Me
I am currently a pile of random notes, a list of names, addresses, and bands. I am about to enter the next phase of life and start interviewing/soliciting interviews, finding out who's dead, who's alive, who wants to be a part of this and who doesn't, and frankly, if anyone cares or not. This is to be a book about Saint Louis. Specifically, the music scene. More specifically, the "punk" scene. What I ,the author, hope to do is write a history in the oral tradition style used by Brenden Mullen in "We Got The Nuetron Bomb" and "Lexicon Devil" and Steven Blush in "American Hardcore". I want to include every band, punk, poet, fan, hipster, artist, clubowner, zine writer, interviewer, scenester, and anyone else connected to the scene that I can. The main focus of my book will be the years 1985 to 1995. When completed, I will be either seeking a publisher or self publishing. I hope it to be hitting the streets by summer or fall 2007.And because I have been getting a lot of "who are you? and do we know each other?"ABOUT THE AUTHOR:I am 32. Born and raised on the south side of St. Louis. 4000 block of Connecticut to be a little more exact. Lived somewhere on the south side most of my whole life.I went to Roosevelt High but most people remember me as going to Metro just cause I hung out with all those people. My first punk show was the Descendants at Mississippi Nights in 1987. The first time I saw Rocky Horror Picture Show in a theatre was the last weekend of The Varsity(now Vintage Vinyl). Then I saw it regularly at first the old Tivoli, then at The Avolon. I was a regular at Bastille's, but went to Bernard's Pub, Kennedy's, The Gargoyle Room at Wash U., the Wabash Triangle Cafe, and the old Cicero's basement alot. Also hung at Cafe Chaos, Burrito Bros., 1227, the wall, West End Wax, and Mangia Italiano alot. By mid 90's, I was hanging on South Grand alot more. Gothic Coffee House, Cheap Trx Cafe, Mangia, Johnnies(first time I saw Very Metal was here at like their second or third show. Hung alot with my "sci-fi,theatre geek contingent" at Intergalactic Party Squad(I.G.P.S.)Parties and partied alot at The Nothing House, which was this house where all/most of the residents where in the band, The Nothing Dream.Present day, I am married, have kids, work alot, and am bitter, tired and old.
