Hello, I'm Brian. I'm an English actor, who came to fame as PC 'Fancy' Smith in the BBC TV police drama series Z Cars. I'd say I'm a highly charismatic man with a booming voice, great beard and robust build who often plays powerful, bushy bearded men in Shakespearean and medieval dramas. I'm the son of a miner, and I was born in the ex-mining town of Mexborough and grew up in the nearby town of Goldthorpe South Yorkshire. I trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.I am also the loudest man alive.I currently provide the vocal links on the Sony Award-winning Christian O'Connell Breakfast Show on Virgin Radio and introduce adverts for Orange mobile phones. In Chirstmas 2006 I presented a Cindarella style play for Virgin Radio starring actors such as David Tennant and Thandie Newton.I'm also an adventurer. On three occasions, I have tried to climb Mount Everest (though I never reached the summit, dammit!), and climbed higher than any other man my age (56 years at the time; my height record was broken by Yuichiro Miura, aged 70, in 2003) during one attempt in 1993. I was on the mountain on May 10, 1996, when 12 climbers were killed in a sudden late-afternoon blizzard (damn tragedy it was). I have successfully climbed Aconcagua in Argentina as well as Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.I'm also known for my footballing knowledge and appeared as a pundit on the British satellite station UKTV G2 during the 2006 World Cup. I also appeared on A Question of Sport in 2006.
