SkyeLine Designs
I've been sewing since my mother put a needle in thread in my hands at the age of six. I didn't start making anything more than doll clothes for about ten more years, but I sewed my first simple historic costume at seventeen. Now, more than ten years later, I've focused my efforts on corsets of all kinds. I've studied theatrical costume techniques at the college level and museum reproduction techniques while I was in graduate school. I can't seem to get enough of sewing so moved on to selling my work. You can find me on eBay as seller "KjirstenG" or I will do custom work depending on my current workload.

My Blog

Despite the fact that I love corsets (making them, studying them, ogling them), I rarely get a chance to wear them.  Since my sewing business is job #2, it keeps me at home a LOT, and I just can'...

Missing in Action!

Sorry for my recent disappearing act!  I just bought a house and am in the process of sorting out my studio, packing it up, and moving.  In the meantime, I have enforced a sewing hiatus on myself (tor...

Buying Vintage Patterns

I am visiting family and friends in Pennsylvania this weekend, and thus I am three hours from my sewing.  But I do have a few hours down-time so I thought I'd take some time to expound on one of my fa...

Corset Making for Newbies: Step 1

Why on earth does it take your corsetiere several weeks to make your corset?  What is this mystical process?I thought I'd make it less mysterious by posting some steps.  I mean, I love making corsets ...

Naughty SchoolGirl Update

Yeah, like I can ever just let a project be finished.  The naughty schoolgirl sat around too long when I was between projects, so I finished it out the way I did with the other Edwardian-era corset I ...

The Very Naughty School Girl

Every now and then I am inspired by a piece of fabric.  This time, it was a scrap of brown and blue plaid wool, no more than a quarter of a yard long.  What on earth is it good for?  But I'm moving so...

Pattern

Oops.  I apparently I never included an image of the pattern I am altering.  To be honest, I went with this one so that I could avoid trying to draft and off-the-shoulder empire gown.  What a pain!  B...
