Who is Dimebreed? Anyone with his/her finger on the pulse. What is Dimebreed? That Je ne sais quoi. Where is Dimebreed? Ubiquitous - everywhere @ once. When is Dimebreed? Right now. The etiology of the name Dimebreed dates back to 1998 when Braer TPT "coined the phrase" We were in the lab developing our clothing line, Excel, when he declared his intention to scar(tattoo) his skin with the phrase. Now since this was the first time I ever heard the word I solicited a meaning @ which time he proceeded to alter my life forever. Somehow, B-Ske, as he is known to his friends, managed to describe the lifestyle of an entire generation in one 2 syllable word - Dime Breed. Some of you may know of or have heard of or better may have experienced the epoch to which I am referring but if not just read on and enjoy. Well, Braer is a writer or graffitti artist whose claim to fame is that of founding father of a crew - TPT (Taxin Punk Toys) - which was popular in the late 80's and throughout the 90's; subsequently we are well aware that this is affectionately known as the Golden-era of Hip Hop. Coincidently, Braer and his extended New York City network were monumental in fashioning the scene which led to the global explosion of Hip Hop culture and its evolution to that end we are the last of the Dimebreed because we are dimes @ everything we do.The World, The Tunnell(before Flex), Palladium Wednesdays, MK's, Nell's, Trip(Beasly RIP, Duke of Denmark) who has their laminates, Powerhouse, Time Cafe, Sheets&Pillows(Big Frank, AJ, Slim Kim, Stretch Armstrong), Deep, Orange, Beowolf, Wetlands, Limelight, Sticky Mike's, Big City Diner, Soul Kitchen(32 oz. Colt 45 & Fried Chicken), New Music Seminar, When the Village was 24 hours, the Meadow, the Bank, Buddah Bar on Varick(One of Mark Ronson's 1st Gigs), RailRoad Parties, Vertigo, Home Bass, Daddy's House... to name a few.
