Life is what you make of it. People say it, but most don't truly believe it. My life for example has been challenging at times and wonderful at others. Everything that has happened to me, has blessed my life in one way or another. My faith in God has been what guides me & helps me keep my life on top.
High School, the dreaded days of hormones, pimples, and broken hearts... At first it was difficult, I was never the smartest, and rarely the accepted. It may have been because I came from a semi-social family. We had a very good and loving family, but the social aspect was lacking. I felt I needed to change it all, and my parents supported me. So for my junior year, I went to PSHS instead of PESH as I was supposed to. I went to re-invent myself, change my personality, my image; most important was my self-confidence. It was not easy to break free from what I had been most of my life. However the change in scene allowed it to happen. I believe that for me, it worked. I met so many wonderful friends there that I will always remember. For my senior year, I went back to PESH as a new person. I was who I wanted to be and most importantly who I felt I truly was. It was a life changing experience. If I had not had a difficult time before my junior year, I would never have changed into who I am happy to be today. I made new friends at PESH, but wasn't picky as most. I did not look for who was popular, or had money. I wanted friends to be true friends. I felt sorry for the clicks, because they will never know how many wonderful people they excluded from their lives.
After High School, I set out as most do to see the world. I spent quality time with my father who I love and have a great deal of respect for. We traveled from Sweden, to Denmark, and Norway. We met with family we had never seen, and met other people that will never forget. Those people will remain in my heart forever.
Most of my friends set out for college, I never saw myself going to college till recently. Yes, I believe I should have planned for that now. However I did have other more important things to do. In March of 2001, I was called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In May 2001, I left everything behind for 2 years. I said good-bye to a good job, family, friends, a girlfriend and much more. Most of our missionaries do the same everyday around the world. I took comfort in knowing that others had done the same. On the 4th of July 2001 I was flying over the Pacific Ocean to spend the next two years teaching about our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in the Philippines. Those 2 years were some of the most difficult times of my life. They were also some of the best years. Where much is given much is to be gained. I learned more about myself and what God has in store for us, more than ever before. I saw what many people may not believe in, mostly miracles. I saw the gift of tongues, and used it, as I was able to learn 4 languages in a matter of a few months. To this day I still use 3 of the languages to communicate with friends. At that time, I knew more than ever that God lives & his beloved son Jesus Christ died so that we may return to Heavenly Father one day if we do all we can in this mortal life. I was so blessed to share that message with several hundred of God's children. I was so blessed to be a part of their lives as they learned of and accepted this message. I know that the message our missionaries bring can change your life in a way that you can only begin to imagine. They will give you the answers you have been looking for. I loved that work and still love to share it with my friends, and anyone that wishes to know.
After being on the Lord's errand, I returned home on my brother Ammon's Birthday May 11, 2003. On October 31, 2003 I met my wife Stacy who is truly my hero. We went on our first date on Saturday November 1, 2003, and were engaged on November 2, 2003. So on the 3rd day, we were engaged and married on February 6, 2004. I wanted it to be my birthday the 7th, but she thought it would be too easy for me to remember. She insisted and got her way, so we had the wedding on the day before my birthday. Now you ask her who has a hard time remembering our anniversary ;) We've been married for 4 years now and they have been hard, but wonderful. I started working at JCPenney Corporate right after we got engaged. Then six months after we were married, Stacy got really sick and the doctors couldn't figure it out till October 2006. It made our marriage very difficult, but we made it through. On January 16, 2007 I was called into active duty for the US Air Force. There was a lot of talk about President Bush increasing the forces at the time. I was separated from my wife for several difficult months as I went through Basic Training and some of my Technical School. In Keesler AFB, Biloxi Mississippi my back was injured. The doctors wanted to say it was in my head, so they still sent us to Italy. I can barely walk now, and my back is in constant pain, but I'm still blessed :) I can kind of walk, I live in Italy, I know God lives, and I have a beautiful wife that takes care of me day in and day out. She's my hero for all she does. I love her so much for everything she does, she is, and will become. She is my everything!
