From a very young age Steven Abraham showed a passion for music. At the age of three, Steven would take pots and pans from his mother’s kitchen and place them on the stairs as a drum set. His parents noticed his early passion for the drums and bought him his first drum set at the age of four. As Steven’s love for music grew, he pursued learning another instrument. At age nine, he began learning the piano. Steven used the Internet as a resource to learn how to play various chords. He then took this resource and applied it to the guitar and soon after, the bass guitar. His gift to play multiple instruments was truly a gift from God, as he never to any formal instruction to learn how to play the instruments.
At age eleven, Steven volunteered to work with the audio/visual team at the church he attended in Chicago. Working with this team exposed him to knowledge on recording, mixing, and setting up for live audio situations. A year after working with the audio/visual team, Steven was asked to help lead worship during the youth service at the church. At first he filled in when a member of the worship team was unavailable. Steven would commonly fill in for a vocalist or a guitarist. A few year’s later, Steven helped out by leading worship from time to time. It wasn’t long before he was given the job full time.
As Steven grew older, his love for music also grew. When his family moved into a new home, Steven was fortunate enough to build his own studio in the home’s basement. He adapted the knowledge he gained from working with the audio/visual team at his church and began recording his own albums. Steven released his first album, entitled “Hope in the Stormâ€, when he was sixteen years old. He wrote, recorded, and produced the whole album entirely himself.
Steven continues to use his God-given gift for music to this day. It is no surprise that he has decided to go into music ministry. Today, he leads worship at various events and continues to write, record, and produce his own albums. Steven’s alternative rock style combined with his worship-oriented lyrics compels listeners from all walks of life. Many great musicians including worship leaders and bands such as Leeland, Phil Wickham, Hillsong, David Crowder Band, and more influence him. His love and passion for music continues to grow everyday and he truly believes God has amazing things in store for him.
