Great Danes

PROFILEROCKER.COMHi, my name is Laura and I am a country girl that doesn’t believe in kennels, but loves dogs & puppies and believe that anyone with a fit home, should own a few! I was very excited to start my Dane family. I am so fascinated with their wonderful personalities. They make such great indoor dogs. People from my small town area had never heard of having such a big dog in the house and all thought I was crazy when I told them I has getting 2 and they were sleeping in the house, on a bed! Now all my anti-indoor animal friends spend their free time cuddled up with my Danes on the floor or on their bed :).

Myspace LayoutsThen all my friends started wanting them. Although Danes are wonderful, they aren’t for everyone. Please do your research before buying a Dane. They don’t eat near as much as you would think, but a lot more than most peoples dogs. The vet bills are more expensive, because they are so large, and they can’t handle too much heat, or the cold. So I’m urging anyone thinking about getting a Great Dane to do the research first. Especially if they are planning on having puppies in the future.

Myspace LayoutsI did my research on Danes, but not on breeding. I was mislead by so many breeders about being able to breed any colors, probably because they haven’t done the research themselves. Breeding my 2 harlequins, with multicolored backgrounds, resulted in beautiful, colorful, puppies, but also gave me 2 deaf ones. Being white doesn't just make them deaf it gives them a very low Immune system. Alley, the all white pup has already at 8 weeks old, suffered from a svere skin infection & almost died because of this. I apologize for this mistake and I have found the deaf puppies wonderful homes and will not breed Mason & Sage together again. I just want to spread the word about this because of all the people breeding the wrong colors and the puppies & new owners having to suffer for our mistakes.

Myspace LayoutsNow I would like to introduce you to my family. The guy in a lot of the pictures, is Ryan. That's my fiance, we have been together for 5 years now. We have a cat, Tore, and a rot/cow/something small mix Kyba (both 3 years old). And Mason & Sage, 2 very spoiled AKC Harl Danes, both under 2 years old. Both of these dogs have GREAT personalities. Mason loves to play fetch and is full of energy, but sleeps at all time when in the house and not being played with! He also enjoys playing with the cats and the cows! I'm pretty sure he thinks he is a cow, a baby Holstein maybe!! Sage is way more laid back, but also enjoys playing. When we have people over she enjoys sleeping and Mason enjoys being more social. Sage is also the more dominate and has an enormous bark, but hardly ever uses it. I'm so happy with my babies and wouldn't trade them for anything, even though most people think my Danes are huge Dalmatians! & I would love to give a big thanks to Lacy, whom we got Sage from. Lacy, her mother, her son, & her Danes are all beautiful & wonderful! I'm so happy I was able to get Sage from such a great place & still keep in touch with them.
