DAE Lighting is back!
Well folks, I am still alive even after spending over 20 years working with rock bands!
One of my favorite gigs was as Lighting Designer for a band called Witness.
I did that from 1979 to 1986. (and now 2007/2008) After more then 20 years I put up a site about those days at
http://www.witness-rocks.com/
After retiring from Witness, I kept the business going until about 1992 when Witness (Who I was still supplying equipment to) folded. I spent many of those years (until about 2002) in electronic service, before moving IT work.
Did I mention I work for a Church?
(Not this one!)
Recently, I have decided to get back into the lighting business. I think my control board might be a little dated so I may have some upgrades to make:
Actually, the focus of my new company is on Intelligent Lighting.
What is that?
Most people call them Vari-Lights, but that is actually a name brand
like
Xerox or Kleenex.
If you've been to a concert in recent years, you have seen
Intelligent Lighting.
The focus of the new business is going to be show augmentation.
(Adding some pop to pre-existing shows.) It's what's inside these
new lights that make them so cool! It's not just a bulb in a can..
Powered by a white-hot arc bulb, these things have a dozen or
more servo motors that control everything from color to
position on stage. (and a lot more) And yes, if you came out to
Witness's 2008 MLCT gig, you saw
them in action!
