.....and how did it all begin???In 1973, Terry & Deon were living quite simply & happily in the small skiing/fishing resort of Big Bear Lake, Ca. ...when, much to their shock, they realized that it was time to come up with a livelihood!! Imagine that. They looked around the area, realized that they had zero carpentry skills, and so decided to try starting up a business in something that they DID know about and love: Music!So, they scraped together enough $$ for 400 LPs (those big, black, round things), 88 - 8tracks (an archaic form of taped music), 3 cassettes, along with various candles, incense, macrame' and other goodies ...and The Long Ear was born.Stereo equipment, Radio Shack stuff, CB radios, and a pool-hall rounded out the early years, before THE BIG MOVE.1985 was the year of the move. Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, the site. Even though The Long Ear went from 3000' to 1700'.....life was good. Victor was 9, and helping out in the store.Fast forward to the year 2007.The Long Ear is back up to 3000'. We stock over 15,000 titles on CD. We've been voted among the top 12 independent CD stores in the nation, #1 in the Inland Northwest!Thank You for helping us get here.
