About Me

This profile was created using: ProfileTweaks Editor Ver.2

Steve Marshall has been at the forefront of the International Radio and Nightclub industry for a while, working in a variety of countries in Europe and the Middle East.

Based in Southern Spain Steve is probably one of the most experienced dj's in the World!!

He spent Summer '07 working in some of Spain's biggest nightclubs, playing Reggae and Dancehall, and some of the funkiest music from the last 3 decades.

Steve has spent his life working in some of the World's top nightclubs, as well as hosting dance music programmes for radio stations from London to the Middle East!

Steve began his DJ career , working by night as Resident nightclub dj in some of London's underground soul clubs, including Whispers and Gossips in London's West End.
Steve was one of the original on-air staff at the legendary Radio Invicta 92.4fm in London, Europe's first Soul station, the station incidently that launched Gilles Peterson's career!
Steve played some of the most upfront sounds on the station, and also managed the music programming and publicity side of the station.
Steve then worked at Voice of Peace, on a ship off the Israeli coast, he was host of the Party Night programme, playing hot new releases from the US and Britain, and the programme incidently received some of the station's highest listenership figures and Steve was the first DJ in the Middle East to do on air mixing!
Whilst on shore, Steve was resident dj at the Cobra club, central Tel Aviv, playing a variety of hot sounds to an affluent clientele.
He has worked in Ireland and the UK, working in large nightclubs, playing to over 2000 people each night.
Steve also has done contract work with the DJ Office in Switzerland, one of Switzerland's highly respected entertainment agencies.
Steve hosted many great parties in the Hilton Hotel in Basel, and other top class venues across Switzerland.
He also hosted the biggest party of the 1990's- with over 5000 people in a nightclub 1000 feet in the Alps.
Steve is currently working for some of Ireland's and the UK's biggest nightclubs, along with many clubs across Europe.
Steve is a massive music fan, who likes many different kinds of music from all over the World, a DJ set from Steve not only features some of the most upfront music anywhere on the planet, thanks to Steve's many contacts within the music world. But also some classic dance music too.
Steve sees himself as a music teacher he says:" I still get a buzz walking into a record shop, and hearing a great tune for the first time, same as I did when I was 14 and started djing professionally."
"There's always great new and old music to be discovered, and it's wonderful to be able to play this great music over a good sound system, and to play the music people love dancing to!"
His record box is well travelled, having worked in some of Britain's largest and most respected clubs, whilst playing in Europe and the Middle East.
Able to read a crowd quickly, and is diplomatic, flexible and adaptable to new working environments and able to deal with people from all walks of life and cultures.
Steve sums up his nightclub career so far " It's an absolute joy to walk into a club you have never worked in, and within 20 minutes have people dancing to the music you are playing, it's a pleasure that never leaves you!"

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: http://www.myspace.com/stevemarshallsound
Influences: Steve Marshall says: " With me it's always been about the music, labels and artists like Studio 1, Treasure Isle, Bob Marley, Coxsone, and of course many thanks to David Rodigan the man responsible for my lifelong devotion to reggae music!"
Here's just a few memories!
Record hunting to checking out the new sounds at Dub Vendor under the tube station near Notting Hill Gate and Daddy Kool in Dean Street, London
Even did a night at Gossips in Dean Street in London too!
Been to Jamaica a few times for business and pleasure, an amazing place with amazing people.
The first time I went there, we were chillin in a bar in Montego Bay, and over the sound system came Sam Cooke's You Send Me, followed by the Impressions.
Anyone with a knowledge of Reggae and Rocksteady will know that these artists amongst others were a huge influence on Jamaican music...
I had indeed come home.
Reggae and Dancehall in all it's forms remains my musical passion, although I like all kinds of Dance music.
Many thanks to all the people who have done specials for me over the years Mike Anthony, Top Cat, and of course Gussie P who remains one of the World's best producers!
Reggae in all it's forms remains a beautiful well loved music, like the people who make it, always changing, always adapting, it remains a big passion for me."

Sounds Like: Every great soundsystem you have ever heard and then some!
Record Label: Unsigned
