So you want to know about me...
be careful what you ask for. Born & raised in Detroit, I love Jesus, Motown, & Disco. One of my earliest memories....the '67 riots (Damn, what a way to end momma's birthday party...helicopters, the smell of smoke, looting---boy stay yo ass in the house; you go out there & da poleese gon git you), watching MLK's funeral on tv, Black Panthers. Laying in the bed with the window cracked, listening to the neighbors harmonizing "Get on up". Remember when momma & dem had 'Blue Mondays'....baby, those were the days. Johnnie Walker would whip em till dey was 'red'. We'd eat spaghetti with smoke sausage & fried chicken, with red kool-aid in a jelly jar. Home birthday parties without pizza----shit I didn't even know there was anything called pizza...we had chicken, greens, sweet potatoes, rolls, y'all don't know about real food. If you got a cake from the bakery with a little toy on it, you was all that. Hair wash night was Friday. Little girls didn't have perms (oops relaxers). You'd get your hair washed, parted, greased down & plaitted. Saturday morning, you sit in the kitchen to get your hair pressed (I can smell the hair burning now). Be at Hudsons when the door opened. Daddy got paid last night and we gon spend it today. New church hat for momma, poncho and coulettes (y'all call em gauchos now), white patent leather shoes, plaid tights, black leather jacket with red stitching. Royal crown hair grease...blow out kits...afro pics with da fist. Remember when you leave da house, you represent me. Pile into the 73 Caddy Eldorado..tv antenna on the back. We got to head south for Christmas...5 car loads deep, eating chicken & pound cake with the one doll you got for Christmas. Remember the dolls made of hard plastic that stood about 3 feet tall. Remember the 'Chrissy" doll that you could make her hair long or short (pull it out of the hole in the top of her head or wind the button in her back to make it short)...can we find this on E-BayChanges may take up to 2 mins to show on your profile
