About Me

Juniper Press | a literary device used by twenty-first century poets
JUNIPER PRESS
Founded in 2006, Juniper Press is an independent publisher of poetry and fiction art books with a special emphasis on interrelated arts and media.
We are primarily interested in publishing art books with a special focus on interrelated arts. We define interrelated arts as collaborative works in the fields of visual, literary, performance, and/or musical art that are created in a spirit of individual interpretation of a common artistic theme or philosophy.
We strongly feel that honesty, integrity, and verisimilitude are the paramount characteristics of any artistic work. The clear, focused retelling of any human experience is infinitely applicable to an audience; and we regard the direct effect in the life of each audience member as the hallmark of “good” art, not exclusively the application of technical or mechanical principles.
CATALOG:
So far, the catalog contains two volumes, Blood Birds by J.A. O'Dell and Manqué by Regina Alexandra (to publish Nov. 2007). Proposals and submissions are always welcome.
ABOUT:
It's true, our operation is small at present; however, we intend to specialize in creating and merchandising high-quality publications for previously unpublished writers.
It's common knowledge that poetry doesn't pay; too many young poets are discouraged from even attempting to publish because of it. They're driven to using blogs, journals, and the occasional literary magazine to express themselves when, in reality, there is no reason any poet of merit should not have his or her own published manuscript.
Altogether, Juniper Press' talented editors have more than twenty years of experience producing litmags, chapbooks, anthologies, and other publications. We are self-publishing experts and have also worked with publishing houses.
SUBMISSIONS:
Currently, Juniper Press publishes poetry only.
Submissions are welcome, and we won't take months to get back to you.
ILLUSTRATORS:
We're also seeking great artists and graphic designers to work with us and our writers. Interested? Drop a line and include links to your other work.
OTHER COLLABORATORS:
Of course, it takes more than words and pictures to make great books. We need freelance marketing people with mad skills. We need audio engineers and musicians who have great ideas for fresh, creative spoken word recordings. We desperately need a well-rounded computer geek to help us steal software and finish coding the website. Basically, like so many small, independent, artist-driven cooperatives, we need all the help we can get. Drop us a line if you'd like to learn more about being part of the JP team!
