I combined jazz and classical music, i wrote songs for brodway! i wrote the piece Rhapsody in Blue and Swanee and many more!!!George Gershwin (September 26, 1898 - July 11, 1937) I became a popular composer when Al Jolson sang my first hit song Swanee in 1919. I've written many showtunes and concert pieces. My famous showtunes are Embraceable You, Somebody Loves Me, I Got Rhythm, Fascinating Rhythm, Oh Lady Be Good, The Man I Love, Someone To Watch Over Me, Strike Up The Band, He Loves and She Loves, How Long Has This Been Going On?, S`Wonderful, Liza, But Not For Me. My famous songs from my operetta Porgy and Bess are Bess You Is My Woman Now, I Got Plenty o' Nothin', It Ain't Necessarily So, and Summertime. My famous film music is Delishious, Lets Call The Whole Thing Off, They All Laughed, They Can't Take That Away From Me, A Foggy Day, Nice Work If You Can Get It, Love Is Here To Stay, and Love Walked In. My famous Orchestral and Orchestral with Piano songs are An American In Paris, Cuban Overture, Rhapsody In Blue, Concerto in F, and Second Rhapsody. I suffered from a brain tumor for about a year before the doctors knew what it was. I died shortly after an operation in Hollywood in 1937. I died when I was 38 years old, today I would be 108.
