Hi..my name is Mataya and I'm pleased to meet you.
I have been involved with the British music scene for more than forty years.I was signed to RCA Records in 1973-1975 and in 1976 was signed by Richard Branson and Simon Draper to Virgin Records becoming the first Black British Rock/Pop artist on that label. Hailed by the music critics but ignored by radio, because in the day if you were black you were supposed to be either a soul or a reggae singer or band which means there was no airplay. Because of this policy a lot of Black British Artists and bands such as Black Velvet, Noir, Matumbi, Gaspar, Barry Ford and many more never got a fair crack. Me I was a little bit of Rock a little bit of pop, a little bit of Reggae and a little bit of soul, a little bit African and a little bit of Punk. I just love listening and making all kinds of music and I have a sound of my own.
My live shows are legendary for their wild and energetic performances. Honestly!!! I can rock....although I haven't done any live shows for a good many years.In the 80's I released a series of great singles like "LIVING WILD", "MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC", IT'S GETTING HOT" "HOUSEY MOUSEY-MORRISON" and "GOLDDIGGER".
In the 90's I set up Black Magic Records/Management to help guide and promote new talent.
Currently I am preparing to release a series of albums of my music from the late sixties up to the present.The first one "ROCK SOLID-HIDDEN TREASURES" is out now distributed by The Orchard.com and is available on I TUNES and other stores in case you are curious. Iam quite excited about this because I have about six albums almost ready.I make music. Music for love, Music for fun, Music for dancing, Music for kissing and Music for thinking, Music for healing. I love music..We can't live without it.

Music is the oxygen of life...without music..I cannot imagine what kinda world it would be!!!
