About Me

Coming from a family of musicians, Mike Lawson has always had a feel for writing, singing, or whatever else there may be when it comes to music. His Father, Joe Lawson who was a member of the original band, "The Ravens," studied at the renowned school of Peabody institute. At the age of 13, Mike was given a drum set. Not knowing much about it, Mike would watch his role model and Brother Joe as he performed with a popular and local band, "Lost Innocence." Mike picked up a lot of his Brother's techniques and style. "If there was only one wish I could ever have, it would be to be as a good as of musician as my Brother Joe," Mike says. Over the years Mike would go out and watch local performers as he began to perform as well. Little did he know his voice would be something that everyone could sit and listen to. As time passed, he began to take an interest in poetry. It didn't matter what type of mood he was in, he could put his thoughts on paper. This became a great thing as most of his poems were turned into songs. He joined the US army in 1990 which also paid for him to go to the VIT(Vocal Institute of Technology). From there Mike took his self taught skills and what he learned from his training and used it to create a sound like no one has heard before. Mike's style is somewhat unusual as he blends many type styles with a touch of added soul. With this in mind there is definitely something there that everyone can get a groove from. Here is a man that survived a train wreck and has come back to release his debut album, "Personal Disaster," on his new signed label, "The FVIC records." Mike has come a long away and will continue to do so. He currently works on his second album release and performs at a variety of different locations. If you haven't seen Mike Lawson yet, be sure to put him on your calendar.
